Do you consider writing as your passion.

Writing and reading are my way of going into a different world. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. I love to create stories that people love to read and want more from the characters I create. It’s the most fulfilling job I’ve ever had. Writing completes me, and it helps keep my overactive imagination in order.

How long have you been writing and what inspired you to do it seriously?

January 1st was my official one year anniversary. I actually started writing about a year and a half ago, but it wasn’t something I thought I could actually finish, or publish. It wasn’t until I really started thinking about it, and I’d talked to my close friend and sister-in-law about it, until I finally decided to go for my long lost dream. When a story and the characters in my mind refuse to stop “telling” me their words, their stories, it inspires me so much. It’s a need to finish and to let everyone read their journey.

When choosing a name for your characters, what do you consider about them that determines what you finally call them?

At first I try and think of a name that stands out to me. I don’t like using the same names over and over. If I’ve seen the name used in another book, or even if it’s a common name, I won’t use it. I feel my books are unique and it’s sort of fitting my characters names are the same way. Although, some names I have used do have a specific meaning to me personally.

Did you have a collection in mind when you were writing them?

Not practically. Most of the time I wing it. (lol) I write what’s in my head and most of the time I don’t really plan out anything, because nine times out of ten, the story will change.

How do you choose which stories to include and in what order?

I always write what’s “speaking” to me most. If a certain story or character’s story isn’t going the way I want, I will take a break from it and come back later.

Do you have a “reader” in mind when you write stories?

I’ve never thought of it that way… I always picture the character I’m writing on when I write, but maybe I should think of a reader… food for thought now.

What do you do to get book reviews? what is the best review you ever got?

I try to promote as much as possible. Being an Indie Author isn’t easy and it’s a lot of hard work. I do Blog Tours in hopes blogs will want to read and post a review for me. This may be biased, but when my first book, Worshipped, came out my favorite was by my sister in law. Her review brought tears to my eyes, and she made me gain more confidence in myself just with her review. Don’t get me wrong, I love each review good or bad, but hers will stick with me for a while.

What does the word “story” mean to you?

Story to me is like explaining an entirely different world. Something that could possibly happen and make you wonder at the same time. It challenges your mind and makes you question things about the world we live in. A story to me is compelling, and literally makes you want to be in the book with the character.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently working on a crime/mystery thriller. It’s going to be a first from me and I’m really excited about this one. I’m also working with someone else on this project and I can say, so far it’s been an amazing experience. One that she and I might repeat!

Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?

I try to write everyday if possible. Most of the time I write best at night, when my husband is asleep, but that could also be because I’m a night owl. I get so much more writing done between 12am to 4am than I would get while working on it all morning and afternoon. I think I have a serious case of insomnia!

How do you promote your work? How Quotesrain help you in your book promotions and sales, would you like to refer this platform to your author friends?

Sometimes, I post in book groups on Facebook. I host giveaways on my author page, I attend tons of events for takeovers, and I also try to stay active on all my media sites. I think Quotesrain has helped a lot in getting more readers to look at my books. I’ve seen my work posted in book groups and on twitter. I would refer this to my author friends, just to see if they would like it as much as I do!

Would you like to share something with your readers?

I’m possibly going to be attending my first author signing in 2017! Not 100% sure, but if everything goes like I hope, I will be there! I’m working really hard to get more books out this year than last year and I can’t wait to see what comes of 2016!
