My first book, IT' S SIMPLY SAUSALITO was an outlet for my grief. In 2011 I lost everything including a child and ultimately my home. I published the book a month prior to losing my home and it was a necessity. It was an outlet for everything I had inside of me (grief, fear, dreams, hopes, passion). I was living in Sausalito, California at the time and had a beautiful home atop the hill looking over Richardson Bay. The day I had to vacate and move my things to storage was a day I'll never forget.
I was checking into the storage facility and the Manager asked my name. When I told him replied, "I was just reading about you". He held up the local newspaper and my book was on the front cover. I didn't have a home, but my book was in the newspaper. Somehow I knew in that moment that everything would be okay. It would be a long journey, but I was right.
Since then I have published numerous bestselling books, but that first one made me realize my passion for writing, something I had since I was a child, could be more, and it was something I not only loved, but something I had to do. It's the best way I know to communicate.
