      • Tryin to prevent being distracted as I write. My typing skill sucks, and have difficulty putting my thoughts into written words.

      • I was inspired to write Heimat from letters to my father from his mother, sisters, father, and other relatives living in Germany before and after World War two. Most of the letters were hand-written in Alte Schrift German, so I was not able to translate them easily. About four years ago, I transliterated the words, sentence by sentence, to modern type and translated them from German to English. As work on the letters progressed, I began to see a story that had to be told.
