      • I find that if I'm struggling to write something, it clearly has a story problem that needs fixing. I usually go back, reevaluate what I've already written, look at the pacing, and check out character and story goals and reoutline some things. That usually fixes it.

Sometimes though it needs a complete scrap. I've done that a couple of times.

      • Two, probably. One, as a college professor, I'd love the opportunity to teach a college creative writing class. All the classes I took in school did SQUAT for my writing ability, and I'd like the opportunity to fix that for other writers.

Two, I'd love to be a featured writer/creator at a con some day.

      • I actually DID rewrite a book. The first book in the Zyearth series was not a good reflection of my skills as a writer, so I rewrote book one. Best decision I ever made!

      • I actually started writing the Zyearth world as fan fiction, way back in 2002. Originally it was never going to leave the fandom I had created it for, but as it grew, the characters kind of took over and did their own thing. XD

      • I hear a lot of established authors say "If you want to be an author, you have to write every day." That's nonsense, and that's what leads to burnout. Not every author can write every day. Specifically, not every SUCCESSFUL author writes every day. My advice - write when you can. Remember that writing isn't just sticking words in a novel or short story. It's research, drawing, worldbuilding, character development and profiles, and sometimes it's just day dreaming to your favorite playlist. You may not add to your novel every day, but you should try to spend some time in the world of your novel as often as you can, even if it's just for a few minutes.
