I think it expands readership more than anything else. I think, if you truly want to be a better human, you become a better learner. Reading is a primary way of learning. It isn't the only way, but it is essential. So, if e-books have made that easier for folks and expanded opportunities to read, I'm all for it.
Honestly, I'm a little overwhelmed when I meet someone who appreciates the book. I fumble over my words and ask questions, then I think back after and wonder if I even thanked the person for their kind words about the work. A simple thank-you would probably have sufficed, and yet I chatter on like some delusional, irrational human being.
If my work affects one person, that's enough for me. Success is never about the money. It is about discovery. It's the journey, and helping others along in their journey.
