The Progenitor is in the science fantasy or more specifically the space fantasy genre. I read a lot of fantasy but I have a love of science which is why I love to see a little science mixed in with my fantasy novels. I think science makes the magic believable and at one point in history people thought science was magic.
I have found that some people believe that science fiction and fantasy cannot live in the same book or movie. When they were questioned further, they admitted to loving several books and movies that had that cross over appeal. It's just a matter of how that book or movie is marketed. The next time you read a book with wizards in space or a super powered alien you are in fact reading a science fantasy book.
My tenth grade teacher inspired me. She taught us how to go through the idea process of outlining, writing, and editing stories. As a result, I wrote a short horror series. Even though she encouraged me to continue, I didn't have the confidence in my ability. It wasn't until recently, that I had the courage to share my story telling abilities with the world.
Pushing the publish button was the most stressful day of my life as an author. All the authors I know, say the same thing. The first time is the worst, and it doesn't improve much over time. Be prepared for that dreadful feeling.
As for writing, take breaks, make a solid workable schedule. Write is a lifestyle, write everyday. Also, try not to edit while you write your rough draft. It's better to get the story on the page and edit later.
