About the Author

Jennae was born and raised a New England girl, just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, where her imagination was always bigger than she was. Her large, extended Irish and Italian families were a great source of support, inspiration and humor. Laughter, love and food were never hard to find in her home. Growing up surrounded by nostalgic, historical landmarks, fed her love of history and creative writing. She has worn many hats over the years. From owning her own typing service and horse training/boarding facility, to operating an embroidery/t-shirt business, her entrepreneurial spirit was strong and thriving. Determined to do something she truly loved, her vivid imagination took over again and she decided to follow her literary dream of writing stories that tapped into her love of magnificent people and places. Jennae now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, where they've raised two beautiful and talented children. Along the way they've gathered a menagerie of pets, including one dog, three cats and 4 chickens to make the family complete.

Ashley Moore's life hasn't been going so well recently. Her boyfriend dumped her and she has no job. She has been having some strange dreams of a grey eyed man. A very good looking man. She is an orphan and financially independent so she decides to take a needed vacation. For some reason she is drawn to Scotland and, once there, follows her instincts which lead her to the village of Glendaloch. Once there she goes hiking and crosses a bridge which has a strange must hovering over it. Once across she meets Cailin and from then on there's a lot of fighting and making of new friends and falling in love. But the question, of course, is should she stay or should she go back to the 21st century.
This is a pretty standard travel back in time and meet the Scotsman of your dreams but the bridge is a novel change.

I really enjoyed this story of Ashley and Carlin and their misadventures. Colourful descriptions of everything from clothing and weapons to the castle and culture of olden times. I like the heroine to be strong and brave but allowing for physical weakness not blaming her for lack of skills and muscle tone. Her getting some lucky shots did give me a chance to smile especially when it was her intelligence and quick thinking that gave her the opportunity. Great book for sure.

this book had everything to recommend itself: a time travel novel, a witch who is in truth a good fairy, travel back to 1500 Scotland nonetheless, a handsome Highlander who falls instantaneously in love with the heroine, and the promise of more to come, as the series has 7 titles. But it turned out a great disappointment for me: she's stubborn and unreasonable, she doesn't understand that she's in the past and different times have different rules and is totally self centred. The historical ambientation is all wrong and the characters are difficult to believe. So, glad I was that I had got it for free and went through half of it before deciding that I had had enough.

The heroine Ashley Moore is the kind of woman you would want to have as a best friend, big hearted, honest and dependable. But her life isn’t easy. Her parents are dead and she has no siblings. Her husband is history and the only man who calls to her heart is a handsome, ghostly figure who appears in her dreams wearing a kilt. (Yes, if you like Highlander stories, you’ll love this one.) She’s drawn to Scotland and that’s when the tale really begins. She crosses a magical bridge and enters another time.
Cailin MacBayne of the Clan MacKenzie is everything a woman could want in a sixteenth century warrior, well-built, funny, sexy and sexy. Did I say sexy twice? You know what I mean. The man oozes alpha male qualities. He loves women, but Ashley is the first to capture his heart.
So we have a modern American woman and a sixth-century hunky Highlander. That’s only a few hundred year age gap. Usually this is where I lose interest, as I’m not a follower of this genre. But Vale makes the story larger than that. A gentle sense of humor flows through her lines, the couple’s relationship is compelling and there’s lots of drama as the two fight off enemies.
If you like Highlanders or time-travel stories, you will love Jennae Vale’s A Bridge Through Time.

Really enjoyed this book, nothing happened very surprising but it was an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon! The characters were great and the description of them was good however they could have been flushed a little further -perhaps they will be in the series. I loved the bridge and got idea, that seemed to be an original idea and the inn caretakers were lovely. I am anxious to get to the next book!!!
