JUNK FOR TWO focuses on Trev, trying to get his next fix, not realizing he has damaged his life beyond repair.
IRIS centers on a young lady named Natalie, struggling with relationship issues and forcing her current love interest to bear the weight of her emotional baggage. This one really shook me.
PHIL is a very dark crime drama, and the casual brutality is shocking. As much as I enjoyed the story as is, I would have liked to read Rob's POV. I couldn't help but think Sara and Rob were up to something sinister as well, before Phil unleashed his fury.
If you enjoy dark suspense with realistic horror, you should definitely read this chilling trinity.
For me, the last piece (Phil) held my interest the most - it's downright wicked and wrong in a good way. I also enjoyed the first story (Junk for Two), which gave a believable look into the mind of a drug addict. I wasn't as excited about the second story (Iris), but I'm sure other readers will appreciate it. I was torn at how to rate this book because while I did like it, there were a few things I felt needed work. I think this is a good start for a new writer - keep those wicked ideas flowing. I look forward to seeing how this author grows and perfects her craft - definitely one to watch.
This beautiful book was sent to me by the author, Kyla Ross. This is a new author to me and I'm glad she got in contact with me. I'm a big fan of horror and suspenseful reads, so this was right up my alley. The synopsis was right to the point and it kept my attention from the cover to cover.
Even though it was only ninety three pages long, it was straight to the point and each story held its own. There are three stories inside and they were not connected to one another. Each story kept me wanting to read more and more. Sadly it was a very short read and that brings me to my next point.
The only bad thing I have to say, well it isn't necessarily a bad thing but it was too short. I personally wished that each story was lengthened just a little bit longer. It would have given the stories for depth and more detail. I felt like everything was so straight to the point that it felt rushed.
I am always thankful for any authors that sent me their work in past, as well as the future authors. This quick and easy read is definitely a recommended read. Especially for someone that wants a quick read and enjoys anything horror or suspense related.
