4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,923 ratings

Homicide detective Angela Keen thrives on the city’s rough streets. But when she becomes the prize of all prizes in the dragon-shifter world due to her “high-energy” status, she gets more than she bargained for. Kidnapped by Lothair of the Razorback clan, Angela barely survives captivity before managing to escape. Hurt and alone with nowhere to hide, she faces certain death when Lothair uses the trace energy she leaves in her wake to hunt her down. But before he can reach her, a mystery dragon shifter intervenes and saves Angela’s life.

Now a guest of the Nightfury clan, Angela regains her strength as her rescuer, Rikar, the last living frost dragon, gradually breaks down her mistrust. Surrendering to her desire for Rikar, but still uncertain of her feelings, Angela goes against his wishes and agrees to be used as bait to lure Lothair into the open. As the battle commences, the true struggle comes from within: Will Angela return home to the life she loves, or forsake it all to be with Rikar?

About the Author

As the only girl on all-guys hockey teams from age six through her college years, Coreene Callahan knows a thing or two about tough guys and loves to write about them. Call it kismet. Call it payback after years of locker room talk and ice rink antics. But whatever you call it, the action better be heart stopping, the magic electric, and the story wicked good fun.

After graduating with honors in psychology and working as an interior designer, Callahan finally succumbed to her overactive imagination and returned to her first love: writing. And when she’s not writing, she is dreaming of magical worlds full of dragon shifters, elite assassins, and romance that’s too hot to handle. Callahan currently lives in Canada with her family and her writing buddy, a fun-loving golden retriever.

Oh things are getting hot with Coreene Callahan's Dragonkind. The battle between the Dragonfuries and the Razorbacks is escalating.. tempers are fraying and the frostiest dragon has met his match.

I loved Ryker in Fury of Fire, he was a solid second in command and an even better friend. His loyalty to Bastian was remarkable and he made the hard choices even when it broke his heart. His loyalty to the Nightfury brings him into Angela Keen's sphere and he falls hard.. Not sure what is going on he wipes her memory and moves on with life.. but when Angela is captured with Myst , in Fury of Fire, and only Myst is saved.. Ryker almost looses it. His pain was palatable.

Detective Angela Keen, the only cop who can put up with Mac. She is tough when she needs to be and even when captured she put the needs of the other captive first. Helping Myst escape but getting caught herself. In Fury of Ice, we find Angela in captivity and looking for a way out. It was brilliant, this is no swooning miss. This chick is tough! A trained cop and a good one. No one needs to "take care" of her she can care for herself.. Which doesn't mean she is a man hater.. nope she is just secure in who she is.

This story was absolutely brilliant! There is so much going on, an intricate dance of stories. And yet it never gets confusing or losses your interest. What is cool about this book is it's about the seconds. Ryker is Bastian's second and Lothaire or as Angela likes to call him that rat bastard.. is Ivar's. And they carry the battle story. The importance of a good second and the power they yield in the name of the team.

Another really excellent point, you kinda feel for Lothaire.. He really just wants to belong.. oh sure he chose the wrong side and is a rat bastard BUT he is extremely loyal to Ivar and when he talks about finally finding a home, it made me feel for him.

We do get a hint about the Archguard and that maybe my theory about them sitting on the fence to see who wins might be more accurate than I thought. Or rather there may be corruption on the Archguard.. hmmmmm..

Another little plot twist, we really get to spend time with Forge.. what a delightfully wicked dragon he is.. His entire agenda it appears is to get his son back and yet... Then of course there is Mac.. oh yeah.. Mac has some serious secrets of his own! Like I said, lots going on.

I have to laugh because there are two members of the pack off to Europe at the Archguard games.. Can you imagine their faces when they get back? Two bonded pairs.. a pregnant female, an infant and of course two new pack members.. see that's what you get for going on vacation.

This series is just getting better and better.. can't wait to read Fury of Seduction!!

This is a fantastically written series, with only two exceptions. Not enough editing resulting in some timeline and detail mistakes. Minor. The only thing for the whole series, as a criticism, is the increasing overuse (which doesn't do justice to this issue) of the word "s***kickers" when referring to the combat boots the guys all wear.

The author uses it so much, it is really annoying, as the term gets used more and more often as the series progresses. Wick's book (#4) is the worst on the s***kicker front, but is rock solid on the cliffhanger front.

This book, #2, specifically, was written much better than Bastian's tale, more realism, too, as far as the falling in love instantly thing, separating Rikar's human self from his dragon. My one major criticism? No one, and I mean no human being, man or woman, would make as much emotional progress as Angela did in so short a time, after being tortured; physically, medically and psychologically, then repeatedly raped. Even though she was only held for twelve hours, she would not accomplish so much healing on the emotional and mental front.

That failing is mostly covered up by the realism of Angela's emotions and psychological pain, as well as it being mirrored in Rikar. Rikar's transition from a bad ass warrior with historically emotionless feedings and sexual one hour stands to becoming a one woman dragon before they even make it off the LZ at Black Diamond is actually a lot more believable than Angela's emotional jump from being damaged forever (so she thinks) to in love and more, absolute emotional trust in Rikar, so quickly.

The only thing I really dislike? That the author is working other projects and publishing other books in between Nightfury books, elongating the already typically long wait in between releases in any series....stick with the dragons!!! She also gave no hint who would be next among the Nightfuries to fall in love or what females might be included.

There is no one left (that I can think of) to be the next Nightfury "My Lady." HE females stick together and now that Angela, Myst, Tania and J.J. have their dragons, there isn't any other HE females who are connected to any of the four. That only cranks the suspense and anticipation for book 5, though. I can only pray it is already at the publisher's, instead of not even written, yet.

You absolutely need to read the series in order, if you want to make sense of all the Dragonkind stuff. Speaking of which, Forge's transition to Nightfury is a very poignant part of this book, as is Mac's reunion with Angela.

Although this book isn't as good as the first, I love the dragons and how all of them appear throughout the story. It's a continuing series with the same general plot of the dragons avoiding extinction while battling enemy dragons. I don't like the needy women. The romance in the series has what I call "caveman charm.". The alpha male says, " you my woman. ". She says, " okay. ". How lame is that? No pursuit of mystery. No challenge. Angela and Myst are more like servants bowing to their alpha masters. The alpha males, however, are really cool characters and bonded warriors.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Paranormal Erotic Romance!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 14, 2013
This is the second book in the Dragonfury Series. I loved it!

Angela Keen is a fantastic character. She is a very strong willed, independent woman, who knows what she wants. She is a homicide detective, on the trail of a serial killer. I liked her when I met her in Fury of Fire. It was nice to get to know her better.

Rikar is a fantastic character too. He is second in command to the Nightfury leader, and a frost dragon with amazing powers. He is charismatic, but slightly taciturn. He has the alpha male vibe going on, which I love!

I got a copy of this in audio book, so I could listen to it whilst doing chores. It was narrated by the same person who narrated Fury of Fire. Benjamin L. Darcie did a fantastic job reading this story. His narration brought the characters to life.

The story sort of follows on from Fury of Fire, but introduces new characters and has a slightly different plot line, but with a common thread weaving through the tale. This gives the series a feeling of continuation. I was hooked from the first line! It was an exciting and riveting read! I really enjoyed meeting a few more of the Nightfuries. These characters are just as hot as Rikar and Bastian, and I am looking forward to reading their stories in the future. Especially Mac's, Venom's and Forge's.
Lothair is the second in command of the Razorbacks, and is not a very nice person/dragon. He made my skin crawl!
Ivar (leader of the Razorbacks) is just as sick, if not sicker, and is still doing his mad scientist experiments.

The story is full of twists and turns, and has another fantastic battle scene (or two) which I could picture with ease. The descriptions of which was vivid and rather violent, but what else could it be when there are dragons involved? The story is told from several points of view, which made it a very interesting read. I must admit that I am not overly fond of swearing in media, and rarely if ever swear myself, but the f-bombs were only slightly less noticeable in this story. Although, it could be that I was becoming desensitized. I hope not, because sometimes there is no need for use of excessive swearing in books, or in life. I believe that using foul language is a lazy way of speaking, and shows a lack of vocabulary. Others may disagree with me, but this is just my opinion. Foul language notwithstanding, I am looking forward to reading/listening to Fury of Seduction, the next book in the series.

Coreene Callahan has written a fast paced, sexy paranormal romance that kept me hooked from the first page!

Due to the use of foul language and the explicit sexual scenes, I do not recommend this book for younger readers. However, if you love hot and spicy paranormal romances, then this book is for you! - Lynn Worton

4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly as good as book #1...
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 8, 2012
This is the second book in the series. The first one was very well written, with an easy flow, and really engaging characters with whom you could connect. It was a story genre that I had veered away from before, mixing fantastical dragons with modern day real world locations. The first book ("Fury of Fire") was mainly about the leader of the Nightfury clan, a group of man-dragon warriors.

This second episode is written from the point of view of another member of the same clan (the second-in-command) and although it was still a real "page-turner", I found that some of the descriptive language used became a little bit repetitive, which was ever so slightly annoying. However, the story itself, and the characters, were as well written as in the first book. I'm looking forward to the next book and have already pre-ordered it.
