Eleven years later, Hugh FitzSimon is a broken man. He is forsaken, alone, a wretch left to wallow in his grief. Meantime, in the Highlands, the MacKinnon clan faces their darkest hour. With their village destroyed by fire, and winter on the way, how can they rally when whispers of war have already begun? A very unexpected "ghost" may help them find their way.For years fans have asked for a MacKinnon's Bride epilogue and here it is, a short story to lend a little cheer for the holidays.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2024This was a wonderful end to a great series of books I loved them all. So glad that Page Dad came to cherish his daughter and Malcom go his chance to shine.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2019After reading Book 1, I sensed something was missing at the end, and to my surprise I read that many claimed the same and that the author wrote after book 5, the expected epilogue to this beautiful story of Page and Iain. I have to say that I felt disappointed. The story was good, a bit unreal, but mostly it lacked all that I was hoping for, the days after their wedding, their first child, the way Iain cared for her pregnant wife after his first tragic experience, a Malcolm happier and more attached to his father and new mother as he sounded bitter while he was an adorable kid, and not a new plot of heirs and assassins. There are also a lot of cousins and nieces and wonder where they came from as none of the main characters had siblings as far as I remember, but maybe it is because I jumped from book 1 to 6 as soon as I realized there was an epilogue written afterwards but before my reading. Nevertheless I think the writer did a great job trying to please her readers.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2022I really enjoyed the first book and wish the author had let the reader imagine his/her own story because this ending was a sad one. It wasn’t just sad for Hugh, but also that father and son were at odds and that was not resolved. Also, we never even got to meet his daughters. It just didn’t complete anything except to show Malcom worse off and leaving. Blah. I wish I had used my own imagination and not read this. I’m a way because of this ending it ruins the first book for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2015Love, love, love! I feel as we have completed the circle and my heart feels warm and satisfied. We've been revisited by favorite characters and some have even found their peace and happy endings that have been a long time coming. Hugh found his forgiveness and Constance, who has been a favorite of mine from the moment her tiny, free spirited, toes touched the pages of Tanya's stories, has found her happy destiny. One of my very favorite quotes from The MacKinnon's Bride makes an appearance that left me sitting here with a silly grin on my face. "Catching glowworms perchance?" ... this is, for me, the quote that starts the story of Page and Iain so when I read it within these pages, I felt we had came full circle.
Thank you, Tanya, for giving us this missing epilogue! I've been drawn to your writing for what seems like forever and you never fail to move me with your stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2022I'm sad this series is done. I have enjoyed every book in the series. The characters in the series were interesting and exciting.

Don't miss this series!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2020This story is really a "novella" or an "addendum" to the original story of "The MacKinnon 's Bride", as mentioned above. But to be able to "read it and understand" what happens, as well as all of the characters, you "MUST" read all of the books in their sequential order (but only if you care and are as invested in this author 's books as I am). You will get to read and catch up with all of the characters from the previous books in this series. This was my favorite part; finding out what everyone 's "Epilogue" was. If you don't read the other books in this series, in their sequential order, then it won't be as an enriching "reader" experience (IMO), then it would be if you don't. Not to mention that you will be floundering to try to figure out why the book ended up being marketed as it was; as well as who is with who and what is going on at this point in their lives (12 years later!!) That is all that I really wanted to say, other than "better late than never" Tanya. Great job. I just wish it was longer (who doesn't??)... Sigh...I will say that Paige, Ian, and Malcolm are the "main" characters. Paige finally gets to see her father one last time and it explains about Malcolm, how and what kind of man/warrior he turns out to be, as well as what turns out to be his destiny. What a twist!! If I say anymore, it's "spoiler alerts" and no reader worth his/her salt "likes" spoilers. If you're still on the fence about purchasing this book, then just download "a free sample" and make up your mind, after you read that. Cheers!! I am on to the next book in the new series (Highland Jewels ?)....I do hope this helped and that you understand why I worded my "review" this way, after you read the book. It's a cherry-topper for this dessert. Readers from age 14+ due to content. There were a few punctuation errors, but other than that...Happy Book Trails......
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2020This epilogue brought together all of the books in the series wonderfully! It showed the successes and failures in each of their lives that lead to a magnificent ending for the characters! I was very glad to see that Page and Iain grew older together but happier. That Malcolm was able to finally get his new beginning and the start ahead to his story of love and forever. And to see that other members of the clan also found love and forever too! I loved reading this final chapter in this series!
