A lost kitten searches for her owner in the desert. She becomes frightened when she realizes she has run out of water and won’t make it home to her person without it. She doesn’t know which way to go to reach the water, and she has no way of finding it on her own.

Dawn Cherie Walker lives at home with her husband and their two cats, Bella and Cat Mandu, in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Dawn began writing her heartwarming tale, The Adventures of Kit Kat, in 1995. Though it has taken twenty-one years for Dawn to finish and get her book into print, she believes it is perfect timing for it to be published now that she has eight grandchildren.

Dawn Cherie Walker (1964- ) was born in Massachusetts. As a small child, she spent many days on her Nana's 'farm' in Ashfield, MA. Her nana raised show dogs, the wire haired terrier. Dawn's first pet was Scamp, a little scamp of a terrier. There were barn cats and one of Dawn's favorites was DC Kitty. There was momma cat and hoards of baby cats. As the show dogs littered, her nana would set up a for sale sign by the mailbox and little two year old Dawn Cherie could be seen "selling" puppies, even trying to convince those that had two children that they really needed to buy two dogs so that the one wouldn't be lonely.

Years went by, life changes us all. She woke up one morning and the story of Kit Kat was just there in her head. At work it took her four hours to type it out on the computer screen; we didn't have thumb drives or computers at home to email the digital copy, so she held on tightly to the only printed copy she had. Eventually, she retyped it and saved it to her thumb drive. In 2016, she found a local publisher and they set to work and soon there after Dawn Cherie had her first printed and published book, The Adventures of Kit Kat.

Residing outside of Charleston, SC with her husband, whom she met there, they have two cats, Cat Mandu and Bella; and a string of strays that find her home more appealing than their own. Dawn Cherie loves them all, feeds them and loves on them as if they were her own. So, with all this activity taking place around their little home, it is a wonder a new adventure for Kit Kat hasn't just emerged again...

Though it took only 21 years for her to finally get published, she has also suffered from prolonged writers block. She is taking notes and arranging a new children's adventure with Kit Kat and should have it completed sometime in 2017. So, stay tuned for future developments!

This was purchased for my daughter who is transitioning between small readers to books that include a story line and plot. This was the perfect book for just that! The story line did a superb job of immersing the reader into Kit Kat's adventure of locating water and reuniting with her person. The illustrations were great! My daughter was fully engaged and couldn't wait to see who Kit Kat would meet next.

This author did a fantastic job of providing an underlining message within the story of the importance of open-mindedness and diversity. This story facilitated open dialogue about Kit Kat and the "different" friends she was able to meet on her adventure. This in turn, provoked thought where my daughter was able to identify being in similar situations. Together we were able to discuss the importance of tolerance and the acceptance of others. This was a great story for any young child and I would highly recommend parents taking the time to discuss the book further with their children.

This is an adventure story for the young set who can follow a story line. It is an exciting read for that age group, who will feel empathy for the lost kitten. There is an emotional context, a lesson, but mostly the listener or reader will look forward to see who Kit Kat next meets. This is the perfect book for those who are beginning to read and to those who are beginning to understand and follow a story. The illustrations are plentiful and very well done.
