Wedding Cake and Big Mistakes (An Adams Grove Novel Book 3) Kindle Edition
For years, Carolanne Baxter dreamed of a life beyond Adams Grove. Being the daughter of the town drunk was no picnic, so when college offered her a chance for escape, she took it. Now Carolanne has returned home, finally ready to make amends with her father, Ben, and to celebrate the wedding of her best friends Jill and Garrett. Of course, the fact that Connor Buckham, her sexy new law partner and Garrett's best man, happens to be the same guy the town matchmaker named as Carolanne's perfect match...well! That's just icing on the cake.
But Carolanne's hopes for a fresh start are dashed when a dead body surfaces during Jill and Garrett's wedding reception...and Ben Baxter becomes the prime suspect. The murder throws the town into uproar, threatening to destroy the tentative peace between father and daughter--and to derail the budding romance between Carolanne and Connor. Has the matchmaker's perfect streak come to end? Or will the truth finally bring Carolanne the happy ending she's dreamed of for so long?
An Adams Grove Novel ~ Clean and wholesome small town love stories with a touch of suspense from Nancy Naigle.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2013I picked up Wedding Cake and Big Mistakes at the same time I picked up Sweet Tea and Secrets. I have to say I loved every minute of Carolanne and Connor's story. Having a sweet romance connected to a murder mystery is a good thing. I love a good mystery and I appreciate the fact that the story isn't mostly about sex. I love that characters from the previous books are included in this book. I have become a big fan of the Adams Grove series.
This one has all the things you could want in a book, well developed characters, heartache, love, friendship, loyalty, betrayal, murder, suspense and a great ending.
I will be recommending this one to my family and friends. I can't wait for the next one in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2014Likely should be five stars. Certainly kept my interest enough to keep me reading way past bedtime.
Nancy Naigle's Adam's Grove and its characters are so real it makes you want to go there and stay. You feel their sorrows, joys and fears so intensely you are drawn right into their lives.
Any serious reader who leans toward mystery and suspense will thoroughly enjoy the genuinely interesting story around the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2013I had this book pre-ordered for months and was SO excited to get it on my Kindle. I couldn't wait to read it and I sure wasn't disappointed. I love this small town in Virginia, and I really like all the characters. They are so REAL! Their relationship interactions, the push and pulls, makes you really hope they end up happy in the end. There's enough mystery to get your teeth into and keep things interesting. I didn't want to put it down and, now, can hardly wait for the next one in the series!

Omgosh.....I'm so ready for Pecan Pie and Deadly Lies!!!
How distracted did I get?
Wedding Cake and Big Mistakes is a fun feel good romantic suspense! Yep all those rolled into one! Carolanne is one determined lawyer who doesn't believe in love or marriage. She's a supportive friend who fights back from her past. Connor is a new book boyfriend we can take home to mom! He wants Carolanne as more than his friend now. The story had me rooting for the hope to be couple and for Carolanne to reconcile with her dad. Wedding Cake and Big Mistakes is a must read for all! You can't beat a book with humor, mystery, romance and much more!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2023Can partners and lifelong friends become more? You're going to want to read this one to find out. Carolann's mother died when she was young and her dad didn't handle losing the love of his life and turned to alcohol. Her best friend Jill and her grandma Pearl became her lifeline.
When she returns home to enter a partnership with her college law buddy, their relationship grows. But throw in a dead body at Jill's wedding and her father's arrest, and the suspense grows.
Small Town love and gossip at it's finest.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2013And I thought her last two books were good! If she gets this much better with each one, I can hardly wait until her tenth novel is released! :) This is the third in a series about a small town: Adams Grove. The characters are believable, the writing is excellent and the plot keeps you reading long after you know you should have gone to bed!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2015These books are great reads if you don't want something that you have to really think hard about. They are light and easy and just make you feel good. Glad I discovered them. I don't know if the Adams Grove series will be ending or if Ms. Naigle will continue them, but I only have two left to read. Guess I will try her other books and hope they are as good.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's All About Marrying
There is one thing this book has in common with the famous Jane Austen novels: the main subject is marrying. However, Jane Austen wrote during an epoch where marriage was obligatory due to society, and so finding husbands for their daughters was a real problem for parents. In "Wedding Cake and Big Mistakes", people living in today's USA obviously do not have other problems than marriage as well, at least this seems to be the case in Adams Grove. Jane Austen described the society she lived in with heart and a good sense of humor. Nancy Naigle describes Adams Grove as a place where only happy and/or wealthy people live and where the days go by with earning a lot of money, eating cake, drinking coffee and thinking about marrying.
The brilliant lawyer Carolanne Baxter returns to her hometown Adams Grove, where two of her best friends are about to marry. Her days in the town where she used to live as a child are filled by her career as a freelance lawyer, living her life as a career woman, trying to come to terms with old wounds of her childhood and reflecting about why she does not want to marry. For her new law partner, i. e. the male freelance lawyer Connor Beckham, no, pardon, Buckham, is nice, sexy, intelligent, wealthy and would be the perfect husband for her (and somehow for anybody else). By the way, Connor Buckham very often thinks about - guess what - marrying.
Besides marrying, this novel has a plot regarding the lawyer activities of Carolanne and Connor. Carolanne tries to solve the emotional problems she has with her father, who is one day accused of murder, and her - mostly platonic - friendship with Connor is faced with hard times when they are suddenly opponents in court.
This book presenting a little town in the USA, where everybody is most of the time wealthy and/or lucky makes remember soap operas, where any main protagonist is a good-situated and hard working freelancer, who has nevertheless enough time for friends and family (which is not realistic at all). Furthermore, the way how in every chapter people think or talk about marrying or not marrying is not quite my cup of tea. Nevertheless, I think I still can recommend this novel, because after all Nancy Naigle has a good style of writing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and so much more
If you like a bit of escapism this one is for you, the characters are so polite and each book centres around a different couple then you are slowly spun a story in the main of love and hate and then you find yourself routing for them and then a sub plot is thrown in that shocks the town and I/you find yourself thinking life is too short get on with it.
In this particular story two lawyers who should be together fight and cuss and it is dragged out until the very end, I enjoyed it. Great one if you want a story you do not have to concentrate on yet I found i wanted to know what was going to happen next.
