Lilly Adam, wife, mother, and grandmother. I was born in London where I spent my early childhood. From a young age, I always had a passion for reading, writing stories, and poetry. With maturity my interest in history blossomed, especially for the Victorian era; it was a period in history that saw so much change and an abundance of new and life-changing inventions and laws, making it such an interesting era to study. Having a lifelong ambition to become an author, it was after a long pause whilst raising my family in Oxfordshire, that I finally found the time and brain space to put pen to paper and begin. My debut novel, May of Ashley Green was published in February 2017. I have since published a further twelve novels and continue to write. Turning my passion into a fulfilling career as a professional author has been one of my greatest life achievements.

As with all books by Lilly Adam, Stella is enchanting. Lilly builds her characters well and makes it easy to sympathize with them as they go through various mishaps. I like too, the way she makes even the villain have a human side. You cannot really hate her and at times can even empathize with her. The bond between Stella and her maid Hetty that develops is heart warming and helps keep the horrors that Stella must face at bay. When Stella's husband mysteriously disappears, the two young women work together to not only survive but to prosper. Lilly throws in the occasional twist that keeps things hopping, but the reader can count on a happy ending, and that is what I like.

An absolute gem of a historical fiction. Ms. Adams opens with a blast of talent, showing us Stella Headley, her husband James and her housekeeper Ms. Wiggins. There is death and loss pervasive in the first pages of the book that inform the history and waft what will come. The backstory of these character will make your heart ache. We understand why loving is so hard, and why the hardest heart have been formed thus for good reason. Sympathy abounds for these characters. The author crafts a deft and soft mystery, that unfolds in a believable way. The language is beautiful, ranging across the highs and lows of England. Adam is a most capable story teller. This book is as cozy as a warm, woolen, hand-knit blanket. You have absolute faith that you are in good hands with her. A beautiful book.

This book is one of my favorite book. This book captures true love and perseverance. On many occasions i went to bed late because i wanted to find out how this love story would end . There were several grammatical errors but I would recommend this book to my friends and families. I will be looking for other books from this author.

This story reminded me of trying to get through a maze but constantly making wrong turns, then eventually reaching the end. I enjoyed how it wasn't your cookie cutter romance. Actually, it wasn't a romance at all because the H and h were in an arranged marriage from the beginning and it wasn't really a story of their feelings for one another but the story of their struggles and a series of events keeping them apart. She realizes she had come to love him after thinking he was lost to her forever. It was a book you didn't want to put down because you were always waiting to discover the next rabbit hole you were heading down on the journey to their HEA.
