Another great read by Deleo. Spoiler alert.
This one starts with Jim, Temple and Ellen seeking an exit from a movie theatre when its invaded by hoodie wearing Antifa idiots. Jim thinks he and Temple are the object of their interest. How right he turns out to be.
Jim is fifteen years old and is already 6'2" and his grandfather, Rick Cantelli, has been teaching him self defense, gun use and telling him to study the situation he's in figure out the best way to get himself out. He has Temple and Ellen too look after as well.
Jim has Ellen hit the emergency button on her phone to let Rick and Lo know they are all in trouble. He then leads the girls to the left and makes it out after taking down a couple of Antifa idiots who tried to stop him. Both Temple and Ellen make free use of their stun guns.
Of course Rick and Lo arrive and wade in busting heads and Kull their six month old dog bites his way to Jim. Dark grey with loads of teeth and training Kull is a force all his own.
This of course is just the beginning for Rick and Lo. Gangbangers, Muslim idiots and criminals seem to abound in San Diego and of course Rick and Lo will be doing their best to thin the herd.
So begins one damned fine read.
This one has Rick, Lo, Jim, Stacey, Temple, Ellen, and Ellen who a true idiot, Kull, the Madigan/Cantelli team, a Temple and Jim who hit the sack more than once and a Rick telling them if they are discovered Temples career will be ruined, stupid kids, bad guys, bad politicians and Rick and Lo doing their best to thread the needle, remove the bad guys, protect their friends and survive.
Five Stars.

Rick and Lo are staying busy making enemies. Before long, they are targeted for death by Muslims, the BLM, Antifa, neo-Nazis, family members seeking revenge, snipers, a deadly bail jumper, and a dangerous, demented Congresswoman.
Amidst the passionate romance between Jim and Temple, there's an upcoming premier of their latest movie along with plans for their next one. Kull, the wonder dog, is learning a whole bag of new tricks for the upcoming movie.
This is all in addition to the regular workouts at Jadie's and evenings at the Casablanca. The whole crew is looking forward to that cruise.
I am always disappointed to see "baited breath" in print. That was never anything but the punchline to a joke. If you check your dictionary, you'll see that it should be "bated breath." Also straight jacket should be straitjacket. That's all I want to share at present.
The excerpt makes me want to reread Cold Mountain -- again.

Ho Hum, another masterpiece of Pulp Fiction by the Master!

Another brilliant example of pulp fiction's best author at his absolute best. I was horribly disappointed when I didn't get to go on the cruise with Rick and crew, but it is possible that Bernard's fingers were worn to nubs with all the excellent writing he is doing.
Most of the books written by Author DeLeo are not for those people who hold liberal or progressive views, reading a single book has been known to cause those folks heads to explode. Hmm, on the other hand please insist that every liberal you know read all of Mr. DeLeo's works of literary art, that way we might see a world with fewer such people in it. The action is non-stop, the story very interesting even as a stand alone book (even though this is an ongoing series), and the dialogue would make a statue laugh.
We all have favorite Authors, this is my personal favorite. If I'm reading another book when a new DeLeo book hits Amazon, I stop where I am in that book and read the latest from Bernard. His books, his characters, all become like family and most American's will look at them like letters from family which have to be read immediately.

Rick and Lo can't seem to get a break in the action and they handle it with aplomb. Those two are older AND better. From stupid gangs to more corrupt politicians...it seems like everyone has a grudge against the pair. Using humor and an "I simply don't give a damn" attitude saves their families and friends again. Ellen opens her big mouth once too often causing problems between Jim and Temple. They make up asking the question "will she ever learn?". This is another terrific addition to the Cantelli saga where Cantelli-land goes from a place of darkness and shadows to Midnight Land.
