I simply adore Sandi Lynn and have read all of her books easily rating them 4 or 5's... I always can count on her to write sweet, steamy and mesmerising reads - but never before have I read anything which is sweet and steamy but also intense and drama filled by her. She has completely exceeded my already high expectations - Defense is so much more than a passionate millionaire romance. The chemistry between them was undeniable but the tension made this quite a different read. As with many suspenseful legal drama's, there are times you'll have to suspend reality and just go along for the ride and enjoy it for what it is.
Luca was a uber successful attorney, incredible apartment, man-whore - world at his fingertips... Until Ariana... she is unlike anyone he's come across and quite a different heroine. While she is a super smart valedictorian from Harvard, she is also broken and bitter and can still taste the betrayal of her past. Needing a new start and to put her life back together she moves to New York, works for Luca who takes her under his wing. She falls for him but knows full well he can't return her affection as he repeatedly reminds her.
But one tragic night everything changes... he needs her, and now she holds the fate of his life in her hands... because she is his defense.
I couldn't put this book down. Once Luca finds himself in for the fight of his life the intensity of this book accelerates. Get ready for drama, suspense and passion. I loved Ariana's fighting spirit. Another fabulous read by Sandi Lynn.

She was told that he was a player he told her he never failed at dropping panties ...... and she thought she could resist his charms but how wrong was she but he never expected to fall head over heels for her either. Ultimately they were bought together over a murder a murder he was accused of and a murder she will do anything to prove his innocence of.
This is another great book, if you've ever read Lynn's books you know that you won't be disappointed.

This is my first story by Sandi and I really enjoyed the dynamics of Luca and Ari, I felt like they had a good chemistry together. Ari is new to New York, after impulsively leaving her home town. Luca takes her under his wing and helps her get established with work and a place to live. When Luca is caught up in a murder trial, he calls Ari to defend him❣️

The trial portion and investigation part of this books was interesting but I find the trial portion a bit unrealistic but otherwise it was a good story overall. I also have to admit I like the new cover more than the original one. I received an advanced copy via Booksprout and I voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

Loved the book, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Once I started I could not get enough, from the start till the end I was engrossed I was even on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, lust and raw passion, strength, happiness with a happily ever after. Sexiness was a major turn on. Do yourself a favor and buy the book you want be disappointed.

This is not only a story filled with romance it has some suspense & minor angst.
A family betrayal sets Ariana on a journey to New York to start a new life & reconnect with a former friend. Luca is an epic womaniser & her friends boss. Of course she starts working for him & sparks fly. He's older than her & set in his ways & position. Having just got her legal degree Ariana is starting new. Sparks fly between these two & there is the question of workplace romance.
I think Ariana turns out to be a brilliant lawyer, as well as detective to represent Luca when times get bad. So much going on not saying anymore just enjoy!

It is no secret that I am a big fan of Sandi Lynn. I absolutely love everything she has written. She's the queen of writing hot millionaire romances. Defense is no exception.

Luca Russo is a rich, high powered, sexy as sin attorney who is a player who loves to be in control both in and out of the court room. He felt out of control in his childhood and his past secrets made him who he is today. When he met Ariana Williams he lost some of that hard-fought control, which made me love him even more.

Ariana is a brilliant and determined woman who just found out news from her family that left her feeling pain, anger, and betrayal. She was so devastated that she left her family the night she graduated law school and moved to New York. She meets Luca and you can immediately feel the chemistry between the two of them. What I love about her is that she could give just as good as she could get. What she wasn't prepared for was falling for this seemingly unreachable man who could give her everything but his heart.

I couldn't put this book down. Once Luca finds himself in for the fight of his life the intensity of this book goes up even more. Ariana is the one person who can save him from his past and his present. Get ready for drama, suspense, passion and falling head over heels for these two strong willed attorneys.

The verdict is out and this book is definitely five stars.

Un début comme chaque livre de Sandy Lynn, et pouf voilà que nos tourtereaux sont déjà bien à l'aise avec leur sentiments - hum... Ah mais non! C'est que l'autrice tente l'infiltration d'un nouveau genre - type enquête à suspens avec une épée de damocles pour les personnages principaux.

Bon c'est là que l'autrice m'a perdue. Je ne dis pas que c'est mal écrit - elle cherche à se diversifier et je dis pourquoi pas? Mais sérieux prendre une petite jeune avocate sans expérience (ok hyper intelligente - mais la théorie sans l'expérience...) pour défendre le cas d'un meurtre? c'est là qu'elle m'a encore plus perdue. et comme je ne veux pas faire de spoilers ici, je vais m'arrêter là, mais disons qu'elle m'a perdue sur d'autres petites choses auxquelles j'ai eu du mal à croire.

Je me suis rendue directement à la fin du livre (partie du procès) pour satisfaire ma curiosité. J'ai manqué un tiers du livre en lecture et pourtant pas eu la sensation de manquer grand chose... Sur ce coup là pas ultra convaincue par le tout!

Plus globalement sur les livres de l'autrice: Je suis dans une période de lecture, pendant laquelle je lis livre après livre. Les livres de Sandy Lynn sont plutôt basiques et attendus on ne va pas se mentir là-dessus. Pourtant son écriture est efficace. Quelques défauts et améliorations pourraient ajouter à ses livres comme approfondir les personnages secondaires (je me retrouve souvent à lire un nom et me dire "mais c'est qui lui, ou c'est qui elle?" ce qui ne m'arrive quasiment jamais -sauf si les personnages secondaires sont plus là pour faire tapisserie qu'autre chose), détailler plus certains passages - notamment ses fins quand les personnages basculent d'un opposé émotionnel à l'autre. En conclusion, les livres de cette autrice sont basiques dans le genre de la romance, à chaque fois avec le point de vue du personnage masculin et féminin d'un chapitre à l'autre. Chacun avec ses bagages de blessures émotionnelles, et chacun de retrouvant face à l'âme-soeur de façon parfois rocambolesque - ou autrement dit le destin. Des scènes de sexe bien décrites. Ce ne sont sans doute pas les meilleurs livres du genre, mais sincèrement pour une lecture agréable et simple - "ça fait la job".

Let me begin by saying I was not asked to give a review and I am not a friend of this author. This is my honest opinion. I do not leave reviews often.

I'd say I'm speechless but I've got plenty to say. Defense was undeniably executed with such finesse to exceed all of ones expectations. Just magnificent.

I loved both the hero (Luca) and heroine (Ariana). Luca Russo, a brilliant Defense (criminal) attorney, residing and practicing in New York, partner with the majority shares at his law firm. Alpha male, handsome, sexy, controlling in every way imaginable until he encounters Ariana Williams, a beyond brilliant heroine, genius one could say, beautiful, sexy, extremely driven and focused, law student anticipating the bar exam, originally from Boston now residing in New York City. Both are equally sharp, precise, strong, resilient individuals in all areas of their lives, controlled and extremely stubborn for dominance. Their coupling is exhilarating, powerful, together they're a force to be reckoned with. Spoilers, you won't find any here, read the book, like yesterday, it's that special. Honestly, spectacular and magnificent.

The romance and suspense are equally thrilling, literally this is a book one will not want to put down for a second. This book left nothing unturned, every single question, problem, prediction or promise made was answered to ones satisfaction by the end of the book and then some. The setting is in New York City, which most of Sandi Lynn's books are either in New York or someone is tied to it somehow. I could be wrong but I believe Sandi herself is from Texas, well I'm a New Yorker and can tell you her details are mostly accurate, those that aren't are pretty close and honestly who cares really? Romance thrillers are supposed to be of the imagination, a fairy tale, readers want to get absorbed in, lost really, removing themselves for a short time from their every day busy, hectic and stressful lives, the "make believe".

Cliffhanger, no. Story... blown away, incredible, brilliant, just spectacular, all of it, the twists and turns, all of the secrets. Hero and heroine, amazing. Cheating, no. HEA, yes! Some secondary characters are just as important as the hero and heroine. Sexy, steamy and hot too. Cursing, yes. Typos, errors, few that I can think of and grammar critics please refrain from judgment, this book should not be looked at through a microscope. It's undeserving to this talented author's book, the work she put into this excels beyond all expectations. There's no room for that here. The ending is not rushed and has a beautiful, fulfilling epilogue.

I have read most books by Sandi Lynn, not all, and I will admit it was her Forever Series that introduced me to her work. That will always remain my favorite, personally, well, now Defense is definitely second and she's had some others released that were very good. Too bad the rating is only 5 stars, this goes way beyond the 5 allowed.

One of my favorite lines "She can shove her fifty years up her c*%t" What happens around that line, the incidents surrounding it, makes the one statement have you laughing and shocked out of nowhere.
