For it follows Rena from recruitment to deployment engaging demons in both the material and spiritual realms. With plenty of time set aside for love and laughter, surely it will have you wondering if the events in the book really did happen. It certainly had that effect on me.

Serenity (Rena) is led to leave her home and flee. In this new place, her life takes a strange turn as she learns that she has spiritual gifts and is a spirit warrior called by God. Her assignments lead her to take others into her home who have been hurt by abuse and show them the love of God.

The spiritual scenes within the storyline are vivid and make you see what the characters are experiencing.
The characters are well developed and had me invested in them from the beginning.

About the Author

Sister Crystal Mary Lindsey (Australian Professional Title) grew up in the state of New South Wales, Australia. She is the second youngest of five children, from a medical family. She is the mother of four adult Christian Children and grandmother to ten. Crystal lived and worked in Tennessee, the U.S. and married a retired Marine from there. Both currently live in the sub-Tropics of Queensland, Australia. Crystal aims to inspire and encourage others to never give up on their dreams. "Where there is no vision, the people perish." This book was sent to me as a gift. I usually avoid books that are labelled fantasy as they are not my thing. I promised I would read it and give a review. I nearly stopped reading it when it talked about angels showing themselves in full regalia and a girl putting on the full armour of God and flying off with the angels to help another girl in need. But I went back to it to how it progressed. The girls needing help did indeed need help and this girl was able to help.
My unbelief was not about angels in full regalia, because the bible does mention it, but I didn’t believe that they appeared to ordinary people like me. The full armour of God I believe is a personal thing between us and God to fight off the temptations of the evil one. But beside all that, it was a pretty good read, and I loved the references to the typical Australian Christmas ofcooking meat the day before and having it cold with salads. Our tradition is a Trifle for dessert.
The latter part of the book became more familiar for me with people falling in love and getting married. I also understood how the main character could no longer be used to help girls in trouble because when she got married for all her thoughts would be on how to please her husband.
The book was a learning curve for me but I enjoyed seeing another way of enjoying the things of God. I would recommend reading it for this reason.

Lindsey pens a wonderfully inspirational story in Spirit Warrior. The story definitely catches the reader's attention from the beginning. Lindsey writes with a flair for detail and brings the emotions of her characters to life. I am proud and honored to read her stories, and this one is no different. The intensity of the story and how it flows is just perfect. Rena takes heed in her grandmother's words, and they set the precedent for the entire story. "Be wise as a serpent and as harmless as a dove in everything you do and say." I will definitely read more of her work, as I find her writing and storytelling style, very hard to put down.

There are many people who believe that this world is more than what we can see with our eyes. Christians especially believe we live amidst a cosmic battle. Crystal Mary Lindsey's 'Spirit Warrior' endeavours to visualise what that battle might look like. It is summed up in an observation one of the book's character makes to Rena, the heroine of the story: "You tell quite a story. You should be a writer, Rena. If anyone were to know about you, they'd think you were crazy."
Set in a small Australian town in the 1920s, the book tells the story of how Rena uses her spiritual gift, along with protection of her guardian angels, to rescue a host of young women who are abused or in peril.
As such, it offers a vivid insight into the ability of God to use those who are prepared to place their trust in Him - with Rena herself finding the romance and fulfilment that sadly eluded her during her own troubled early life.
