Born in a small Kansas town on the Missouri river, C.L. Schneider grew up in a house of avid readers and overflowing bookshelves. Her first full-length novel took shape while she was still in high school, on a typewriter in her parent's living room. Though Schneider has been writing all of her life, Magic-Price (the award-winning first installment in The Crown of Stones Trilogy) was her first published novel.

While her main focus is epic and urban fantasy for adults, she dabbles in all areas of speculative fiction.     The story Nite Fire: Chain Reaction by C.L. Schneider is a thrilling journey that takes you into the world of the paranormal. It is a book that had me hooked from the very beginning. It is the second book in the Nite Fire series. I would highly recommend reading this series in order. I found that way the story had a smoother flow as events that happened in the first book were revisited and many of the characters are in both stories. This book has Dahlia Nite and her partner Detective Alex Creed investigating a mysterious ailment that leads to strange deaths in Sentinel City. They are finding more questions than answers. Will they be able to solve who or what is behind the strange events and deaths? Will they be able to keep the city safe? This story has plenty of action and danger for Dahlia and those that are helping her. It had me on the edge of my seat and trying to put together the clues that are being discovered. There are revelations and the motives of some of the characters are uncovered. Dahlia does her best to cover up and keep humans safe when creatures from other worlds cause problems. I really love her character as she is strong, independent, and compassionate. As the story progresses, she finds herself having to make hard decisions. Her partner Detective Alex Creed is a man who buries himself in his work. I enjoyed the interaction between them. I found myself smiling when they talk as there is a lot of sarcasm between them. Dahlia is also friends with Casey Evans. He is a true friend and he steps up when she needs help. There are characters in this story that help Dahlia while others have their own agenda and plans which they will do anything to achieve. Not everyone places the same value on life. This is a fast-paced story which I didn’t want to put down until I had read the last page. Don’t miss out on the continuing story of Dahlia Nite. I have read several books by the author and found that she writes wonderful stories and creates amazing characters. I can’t wait to read what she writes next.

    This is the second installment in the Nite Fire series by C.L. Schneider. I recently bought the audiobook version (Highly recommend with narrator Cassander King-who does an amazing job) of CHAIN REACTION after reading the third installment of the series. I then realized how much I get lost in this fast paced, action packed world. Nite Fire -Flash Point was a great introduction to the series, Dahlia's background, and the main characters. I recommend you reading these books in order so you can get the full scope of character development and the intricacies of this urban setting and Nite's home world. That being said, Book 2 shoves you right back into the middle of the action. Dahlia continues to work with Detective Creed from the SCPD to solve unexpected, unexplainable and gruesome occurrences throughout the city. Is it magic or is it science? Or something in-between? All in all, Schneider's description of this is very detailed and brought to life..honestly I did have to put the book down to stop the images playing in my head before I continued to read.. they were so vivid. In addition, Dahlia walks the tightrope of helping and manipulating the humans around her while keeping her identity and her world of monsters secret but it becomes blurred as someone dear to her is effected. Throughout it all we see Dahlia is become something more than she ever thought was possible. I will not spoil it for anyone but I can say that if you love dragons and always wondered what it would be like to go up against one..this is the book for you!!! Another winner in my opinion and gets the reader ready for a third installment.

    I love this series and this book, the second in the series, blew me away. From the beginning of book one, I have loved Dahlia. She not only kicks butt, she knows she's not perfect. She is very in touch with her human side. Unlike most of her kind, she respects and quite likes the humans. She has been on the run for so long, this book finally has her getting more comfortable with what she has come to think of as her city. But now her city is being overrun with strange creatures that used to be human. Now her job of keeping the humans safe and unaware is in the balance. Can she find out what is really cause this and at what expense?

    Like I stated previously, I am in love with this series and was anxiously awaiting the release of this book. I was very far from disappointed. Dahlia and her friends are all back and better than ever. But neither are they perfect. This makes them even more believable. Not to mention the story. There is so much going on, I could not put the book down until I was finished. There were quite a few surprises too that I did not see coming.

    This incredible story is very well written and will spellbound you from beginning to end. I highly recommend reading book 1 in the series first, but in my opinion this book and series is a must read in the urban fantasy category.

    One of C.L. Sender's trademarks is her full on, action packed opening chapters. Chain Reaction continent's tradition with Dahlia Nite exploring her newly discovered empathic abilities.
    The actionable into overdrive as we learn humans are being mutated by a new drug called Chrysalis, imported by someone from Dahlia's home world.
    The horrific mutations are described with the author's brilliant use of words.
    Her action scenes featuring Dahlia battling her enemies is frenetic and wonderfully descriptive.
    The characters we met in the first book are back and we learn more about them and what makes them tick.
    My only criticism is the dialogue of antagonist Bastian, who at times, sounded like a Bond villain.
    A superb second entry.

    Chain Reaction is the second book in the Nite Fire Series by C. L Schneider. The story is a paranormal, action/adventure. It has so much going for it- there’s supernatural elements, danger, shifters, mystery, suspense, drama… and so much more. I really recommend reading the first book in order to have all the important backstory details, before starting this one.
    We meet up with Dahlia Nite again, and as we discovered in the first book, she is a shapeshifting assassin who came to the human realm to hide out after an assignment went awry. She didn’t stay in one place for long, moving from town to town, and has devoted her time and particular ‘talents’ to protecting people who are at risk by eradicating the creatures that ‘go bump in the night’, that threaten the unsuspecting human population.
    She had teamed up with Detective Alex Creed and now they have had time to settle into their partnership. They may be very different in their methods, and even come from very different backgrounds, but it’s their differences that make them such a great team. But, in this book we see them investigating a spate of mutations and people who are combusting in the middle of the street. This case will test them, and their relationship/s, as they race to discover what’s happening, and why. Dahlia will need to change the way she approaches an investigation in order to get to the bottom of it all. With fear and panic at an all time high, there is a lot at stake. Will they unravel everything before it’s too late?
    This is a fantastic second instalment, it is such an intriguing, unique and imaginative story. Ms. Schneider has once more proved to be a very talented author.
    I recommend this book/series to anyone who loves a great paranormal story with supernatural elements, action and adventure. You are sure to love it as much as I do!
