Ann is writing about the strong women that these men need in their life to help right the world’s wrongs and keep their small part of the world safe. The women are extraordinary, strong and determined to make a difference.

The men fight for right in every book. Yes, they kill people. Yes, the MC shoots at the bad guys’ feet to cause them pain. Yes, some throw tampons at each other regularly. That being said, they do these things while stopping human trafficking and experimentation, bringing their world into legitimate businesses, fighting gangs to keep drugs away from their towns and kids, keep women sheltered safely while trying to stop domestic abuse. These are men that don’t leave a pack, team member or Brother behind. They don’t treat women as possessions and they don’t cheat. Respect takes on an honorable meaning. Women and kids are cherished. Everyone is looked out for and everyone is equal.

L. Ann has made amazing worlds, tackled the taboo subjects and made it easy to imagine living in a world where your protection comes from the vampires, shifters, freaky kids, albinos and orientals, military turned FBI and some Badass Bikers.

With readers writing about rereading the series over and over, she feels like she’s told her characters’ stories in a way that would make them proud. Every book will make you laugh, every book will make you angry for the wrong that happens in the world. Every book will make you cry for the pain that a character feels.

Every book gives you hope that we may just get it right yet.

I read all these books on ku when they came out, often multiple times, while waiting for the next to be released. Not short each book will likely take a couple days for a casual reader. Each book tells about a different couple's struggle through life and relationships. But they are a tight knit community and you are in depth with every family that came before. Yes the kids and quickly while the political world issues creep along at a normal pace. The stories need that. This set of books starts thing in with the Baxter series before it, and you will see more of that in the books to come.
One note to the author links at the front leading to at least the beginning of each story would be nice. Trying to navigate while scrolling is tough with this much material.

I love this series. I have all the books. I have reread them many times. If readers have triggers some of the books should be avoided, but mostly these books are about the Main characters finding their HEA. These books are the good guys win, even if they get it a little unconventionally. I think of this series as a crossover of MC and sci-fi. You just fall in love with the characters.

I find the authors writing style a bit awkward. It jumps about and some paragraphs feel like notes that haven’t been expanded on,especially in the first book.
I was unsure about some events and characters and felt like I had missed something. As there was no build up to some events.
It might have helped to have the reading order at the beginning of the box set.
I liked the characters and the storylines but found it a bit annoying with continuous repetitive phrases.
I did particularly like the Little Brothers.
I DNF this box set but feel I might come back to them at a later date.
