Yet Brody Jensen is intrigued.
And I'm torn. I'm not looking to date. Besides, I always thought I'd go for someone older and more settled. Brody doesn't tick the boxes I planned for what I wanted in a man. Yet, one date with Brody under the blooming cherry blossoms has me questioning everything I thought I knew. Not only about relationships, but about myself.
Will this love story be called out at the plate? Or can I find myself safe at home with Brody?

This book was like my dream story from when I was growing up. Being from Michigan I am and will always be a Detroit Tigers fan. I grew up sharing a room with my sister, dreams of meeting that swoon worthy player (In my world it was Lance Parrish) who would sweep me off my feet and we’d live happily ever after. She more than fulfilled that dream for me.
From the moment they meet, Haley dumping coffee on Brody you can feel the attraction. Hayley has no clue who he is nor is she the least interested in sports but there is something about him that makes her take that chance with him. Brody, for me, just took one look at her and even though it seemed as if they were different on so many levels he pursues her and the rest…well the rest you will have to pick up a copy and read.
This book has humor, it is full of passion, there are obstacles that stand in their way. What I love is those obstacles are not insurmountable and suddenly solved in a page…they are dealt with in a real world way that leaves you with a story that could have happened to any one of us.
Aven does an awesome job of researching her characters as well as the location the story is set in. It makes you want to go there and visit all the places that Hayley and Brody went. And it makes you want to go to a baseball game, buy a hotdog and a coke and cheer on your favorite team .
This is an AWESOME start to this series. I have butterflies just thinking about their story and as I finish this, I am going to go and read it all over again. My only regret is that there are only five stars to give, because this book deserves so many many more.
Most of the funny stuff is near the beginning, and sadly doesn't continue. And there's a lot of repetitive interior monologue.
Stand alone HEA, with hints of further books to come. I also like that characters referenced Skye from the author's book Sugar and Ice; after all, she was on a popular TV show in this author's world, so it makes sense other characters talk about her.
Contains no sex scenes technically (nudity and petting), some swear words, and no violence.
This combined lots of what I enjoy reading... sports, an adorable meet-cute, and a swoony book boyfriend that has no idea how adorable he is!!
Hayley and Brody have an instant connection that each one can't believe is happening. Their sweet connection and willingness to see the best in the other is just so enjoyable!!
While this doesn't have some of the steamiest scenes, the romantic and adorable interactions between these two more than makes up for it. It was just so engaging and entertaining! I loved their connection and HEA.
Obviously, I recommend this read. I will certainly be reading Katie's story next.
Hayley's love of kitchen gadgets had me laughing. Her meet cute with Brody was memorable. Witnessing them fall for each other was everything. As per usual nothing is ever easy for our characters though. The moment of conflict tugged at the heartstrings, and while I know a happily ever after is coming, in the thick of it the emotions flow.
Then there is Dominick and Barbara! Those two have grabbed a hold of my heart, and are up there as some of my favorite characters that Aven has created. I find myself wanting to sit at their table, or next to them at a ball park to just listen to their stories, to their wisdom, to their banter.
I love how much research Aven puts into her books, and how her stories flow. She is one of my favorite authors.

This is Aven's first baseball story but it lost none of the magic of her hockey stories, it still had a hot hero that i immediately fell in love with, humour, great characters and a wonderful story.
I completely fell in love with Brody and Hayley, their romance was so sweet, beautiful and passionate and their chemistry was sizzling. But I loved how they brought out the best in each other and made each other stronger.
Her characterisation is always really strong and not just for the two main characters but for the whole cast of characters, their friends and family were real, rounded people that you immediately liked.
The stand out thing for me in this story was the humour, i laughed out loud on so many occasions and for me I think this was her funniest book yet.

It's a lovely soft romance with some twists and turns.
