I am hooked on this series. The Author had me laughing out loud in chapter 2 when Daphne and Mistrael first meet and then had me swooning when a certain Felinne saunters into the room in his black panther form. Victoria has developed a truly complex mythical world/characters which she has executed perfectly.

This is author's debut novel and I cannot believe it took me so long to start reading it. The story is absolutely amazing, I love the author's writing style, her approach is fresh and original, and my overall impression is that I want to read more of her books.
Apart from being beautifully consistent, the author did a stellar job in the world building and character development, and as I mentioned, she takes a different approach to the supernatural community. Her prologue is a glimpse into one of the most beautiful love stories I would love to read.
The main character is Daphne, a soul reaver, an orphan unaware of the others, forced to kill to survive. She is also feared and hated by most of the supernaturals simply because of her nature. Her resilience is simply impressive. The amount of raw emotion the author managed to convey in the first part of the book is unparalleled. The pain, loneliness and confusion Daphne feels are palpable and available for the reader to experience.
There are two issues that author tackles in an amazing way, and I could not be more impressed with her approach. Firstly, there is discrimination among races of supernaturals, especially the soul reavers who are being feared, hated and eliminated just because of what they are, without any consideration for giving the individuals some benefit of a doubt. The way the author portrays the hatred, fear and discrimination, makes it difficult for the reader not to feel for the main character and the hardships she faces. Fortunately, the author does not leave a reader without the positive influence of the characters who fight the discrimination with everything they have. Secondly, there is the issue of same sex attraction which is still quite rare, but the author treats it as any other regular topic, in other words, she does not make an issue out of it, which could not make me happier.
There is an array of fantastic characters, Kate, Jay, and Topher being some of them, and there is an array of unlikable characters, all of which are well developed and realistic. Then there is Rufus, my dream pet, one of the cutest fictional pets ever invented.
I have to mention that the book has an open ending and leaves things partially unresolved, so keep that in mind when starting. I am obviously dying to read more and cannot wait for the next book to be available. The Soul Reaver Alloy (Myre Series Book Two) and The Demon Shadow Play (Myre Series Book Three) have been announced.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! It has all the right elements for a great urban fantasy/paranormal romance story. There's just the right mix of action and romance (and also some juice scenes) to make this a fun, exciting but also relaxing read. There are also some great and intriguing ideas in there... some are common ideas in fantasy but with a new twist, and some are entirely new and innovative. I loved the main character; she is relatable and likeable, but not too perfect. The male characters are definitely the kind you can crush on (I'm just struggling to decide who's hotter... Mist or Jay??). My favourite character is probably Kate; she's exactly the kind of person you'd want for your best friend. The author has a great style of writing that will immediately draw you in, keep you on your toes and make you fall in love with the characters. Excited for book 2!!

I enjoyed this first books in the Myre Series. It's an attention grabber and introduces some paranormal species that are unfamiliar to many readers. It's a coming of age story in Daphne, one of the few surviving reavers; it's a story of a girl who has always been alone who is experiencing friendship and attraction with other characters; and it's a battle between good and evil, love and hate, and traditionalists against the more modern Myres.

I highly recommend this, but caution readers that it has graphic sexual scenes and quite a bit of violence.

I loved this new take on some classic legends. The city of Trinity is brimming with characters from all walks of legends from vampires to fire angels and everything in between. It was more than just different creatures interacting, it was an entire world, living and breathing and moving around in sync.

Trinity has been a thriving city full of Myres, legendary creatures that blend with humans on a daily basis. They walk among them, but also have their own world that works in unison so they can all live in harmony.

Daphne is a soul reaver, she just doesn’t know it yet. Living in the human world, all she knows is that she’s different. When she comes into her own, everything changes, and not just for her but for the entire underworld that she finds herself a part of. The cast of characters is well fleshed out here and they all have their own goals and lives. It was fascinating to delve into this new world and...

Oh My God, we cannot forget about Mistrael. I’m a romance reader at heart and boy, did he ever do it for me. He and Daphne go from mortal enemies to something so much more. It was romance but not necessarily a romance novel.

Love!! Cannot wait for the sequel!!
