A Frequent Peal Of Bells: The Phoenix Series - Book 11 Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 69 ratings

A nation under terrorist siege. A hero pushed to the brink. Justice hangs in the balance

In a gripping tale that mirrors recent contemporary struggles, a nation grapples with the resurgence of Islamist terror and the insidious influence of the Grid. As criminal waves strain law enforcement and austerity measures constrict resources, the Phoenix Series delivers a poignant exploration of resilience amidst multifaceted challenges.

As austerity measures tighten their grip on government resources, the very fabric of society begins to fray, exposing the vulnerabilities of a system pushed to its limits.

Ted Tayler's eleventh installment in The Phoenix series,
A Frequent Peal Of Bells, masterfully captures the essence of our times, weaving a tapestry of contemporary political and economic tensions that will resonate with readers.

Perfect for fans of noir crime and terrorism thrillers, in the mould of Jack Reacher, Rex Dalton, and Jack Noble, the Phoenix Series continues to deliver justice in a world desperate for a hero.

About the Author

Ted Tayler is the international best-selling indie author of the Freeman Files and Phoenix series. Ted lives in the English West country, where his stories are based. He was born in 1945 and has been married to Lynne since 1971. They have three children and four grandchildren. His thought-provoking mysteries appeal to readers of Sally Rigby, Joy Ellis, Pauline Rowson, and Faith Martin. His action-packed thrillers are a must for fans of Mark Dawson and J C Ryan. Gus Freeman’s cold case investigations are carried out with reasoned deduction rather than bursts of frantic action. In each of the 24 books, unsolved murders are accompanied by romance, humour, and country life. The core message in the 12 Phoenix novels is that criminals should pay for their crimes. Unfortunately, the current system fails to deliver the correct punishment, so Phoenix helps redress the balance.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Ted Tayler’s Phoenix series. The eleventh book in this action-packed series, A Frequent Peal of Bells, continues the conflict with the criminal organization, The Grid, as well as additional terrorist attacks across Britain. Tayler maintains his skill at focusing on current events and weaving them into tightly knit fictional tales that mimic real life occurrences worldwide.
If The Grid was violent under Hanigan’s control, Colleen and Tyrone O’Riordan have made it a blood thirsty and vicious organization. Their no holds barred goal of uniting all gangs and criminal groups in Britain under the rule of The Grid seem to be succeeding. Reports of high end robberies shake the country to the core and cause the public to rise up and demand action.
Add to the home grown illegal activity, the attacks by terrorists resulting in the deaths of hundreds and the destruction of rail lines, and Britain becomes a boiler about to explode. With little faith in the government, the citizens become angrier by the minute.
The vigilantes of The Olympus Project have their work cut out for them. Under the leadership of Athena and Phoenix, they attempt to deal with both elements, straining the group. When their secrecy is threatened by The Grid, the Project’s situation becomes critical.
Several of the personal stories which make the series realistic are tied up. Some of the conclusions are shocking; others are rewarding. Tayler’s ability to give his characters depth and substance is vital to the success of this series. Besides the technically brilliant military like action, there are the intimate lives of the men and women of the Project.
Book eleven of the series carries the adventures onward and sets the stage for the next, and possibly final, book. I both look forward to and dread the next book. Tayler has set the standard for suspense at the conclusion of each book, and with the touted end of the road, the wait is nail bitingly intense.
If you haven’t begun reading the series, get to it. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys action, crime, and a bit of romance to keep things realistic.

Larcombe Manor has been compromised! Now the Grid knows what organization Larcombe Manor is involved in and who is involved with the organization also. There's also three weddings at Larcombe Manor, happy days! Now this is the second to last book in the twelve books' series, I can't wait to read the last book coming after this one. The last one is even better for it's conclusion. I highly recommend all twelve books in the series, you won't be disappointed!

Yes, I am a huge fan of Tayler's and his work of the Phoenix Series. Each story has an amazing group of characters, and they are no strangers to dangerous missions. He continues to write an action-packed story, that not only displays the current case and the never-ending battles with terrorist, but also the personal lives of those within The Olympus Project. This is book eleven, filled with grand adventures that comes from the highly imaginative creativity of Tayler and his "magic" pen.

I received this book free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. ~Amy's Bookshelf Reviews

A British Series set in the UK. With more of a negative slant on living in the UK. I’ve visited there twice, and now would be hard pressed to travel back after seeing the Country through the author’s eyes. The language variations wasn’t too difficult for Americans. The plots follow a good versus evil theme. Like many series book they are rather short in content. A lot of the time the characters are looking for or eating food. I read all 12 books in the series. If it wasn’t for the ending, I might have given the series four or five stars; but the author blew the ending and series wrap-up. Based on the ending, I wasted my time reading the series. I recommend you look for something else to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you want to know what is happening in the UK today, read this!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 26, 2018
I’m not sure if worrying is quite the right word, but reading this, the latest in the Phoenix series, the parallels between what I see on the TV or read in the newspaper concerning events in the news, (yes, I still read a daily printed paper), are so intertwined that I feel that Ted Tayler has a firm grip on current affairs. More people need to read Ted Tayler’s books as they give a very accurate view of what is happening in our society today.

As a UK based reader, I am sure there must be many more like me who view Ted Tayler’s writing as almost prophetic in nature. He is managing to put into words what many of us see as failings in society today. It does not matter which political party is in government, as all too often their good intentions are undermined by a need to pussy foot around important decisions for fear of upsetting some group or another, as well as having the date of the next election firmly in mind. We suffer from not thinking long term and being afraid of tackling the difficult issues.

I have followed Colin Bailey from Ted Tayler’s first book “The Final Straw” through his transformation into “Phoenix” and the work of “The Olympus Project”. I have never been disappointed with the books I have read and await the final book in the series with mixed feelings. Part of me wonders if he ought to have his “collar felt” because of his past life prior to his role as Phoenix catching up with him. Mind you, judging by the inability of the police to get convictions to stick these days that might be a non-starter! Another part thinks he ought to be dealt with in the same way as people such as him are dealt with by the Olympus Project” at Larcombe Manor, i.e. disposed of in the grounds.

Perhaps the “Grid” will end the work at Larcombe Manor with some devilish plot. Maybe he will sail off into the sunset with his family and live out his days living a simple life off grid!

Whatever happens, I look forward to reading the next (final) book in the series.

Really enjoyed this latest version. Found one previous book a bit thinner on storyline that is probably because all the rest have been so involved. Sorry to hear the series is coming to an end? I will be waiting with baited breath for a new series. If it as good as this series develop be unmissale.
