An Iranian fighter jet flies high above the Line of Control, which marks the contested border between Indian and Pakistan. The airplane appears to be in trouble. The pilot seems to have a problem with the craft's flight control surfaces. Smoke trails behind its port engine. Apparetly it does not have the ability to emit any electronic signals and is unable to fire its missiles if required to do so.

An enemy aircraft, smelling blood and sensing an easy combat victory closes in for the easy kill.

Sometimes, appearances can be deceiving.

Aviation blockbuster.

I have been reading Ed’s work since Harry’s War. From page one, Ed’s books engage and entertain the reader, and MAR is no exception to this rule. Fast paced and filled with incredible knowledge of the world of the fighter pilot, and aviation in general, MAR takes you through the air engagement of an Iranian fighter pilot, as he fronts off with very capable opponents. These scenes will leave the reader guessing all the way. It is also clear in the book that Ed has done a vast amount of research in regard to Iranian military aviation capabilities. Some of the technical detail found in this book will stun aviation enthusiasts and blow away the common reader. There is also a little more dialogue in MAR than there was in Ed’s previous book, Harry’s War. This beautifully written dialogue ties together a conclusion in the book that will leave the reader gagging for more. Can’t wait for Ed’s next book.

I enjoyed this story so very much! Since I am an Air Force brat and have served in the Air National Guard myself, this was right in my wheelhouse! Ed did a great job of capturing the regional politics of India, Pakistan and Iran.
Major Mar is the antagonist in the previous book in the series, yet he is almost the hero in this book. It takes good writing to show that. I enjoyed the aerial dogfights and the interactions with the ground crew. Major Mar is a formidable opponent, with a wife and child. Harry will be up for the fight of his life if he is allowed back in the cockpit, by his commanders. I hope we get to see this epic battle!
I give “Mar: A Harry Miles Redemption Story” a score of 4.6.

This was a good short story. I’m a disabled vet myself and a former fighter aircraft crew chief. I found the technical descriptions refreshingly accurate which made this story even more entertaining. I’ve read both of the Harry Miles story and my big question is when is the 3rd installment coming? You can’t leave this hanging! Full length novel please 😁
