Fighting His Fire (The Rock Gods Book 6) Kindle Edition
Dante and Ashton knew differently.
What made this a hundred times worse was the fact they were stuck in this room together. They hadn't shared space like this since the one afternoon they both wanted to forget. And, revisiting that nightmare was not an option . . . with or without the help of a therapist.
Two musicians.
Same band.
Afraid to admit their true feelings, being in close quarters again has them both at their breaking point. They say if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, but neither of them can find a reason to leave, and fighting the fire is becoming more and more difficult to do. Dante's baggage isn't pretty and his scars run deep, but Ashton might be the one to finally see beyond his past and help him find a way out from the smoke screen he's spent his life hiding behind. In order to get there, though, they'll both have to walk through the flames.

About the author

Ann Lister is a native New Englander currently living in Florida with her husband. She has pulled details from her years living in the New England area and uses many local settings and landmarks in her novels.
After graduating art school, marrying, and raising two daughters, she established her own video production company. Her nearly two decades working in video production included work within the music industry and won her a coveted Telly Award. Her 'behind-the-scenes' exposure to the music world and her love of rock music is the inspiration for her erotic rock star romances.
The Rock Gods series gave her Bestselling Author status on Amazon. Beyond The Music, Book 7 in the series, hit #1 in the Gay Erotica genre during the Pre-Order and held that spot for several weeks. This last book in The Rock Gods series launches the spin-off series, Guarding The Gods, which releases in early Summer of 2016.
Fall For Me, Book One in the series was a Finalist in the 2013 Rainbow Award. Each book in this series brings her two favorite elements together: musicians and the love between two men. These stories focus on what it truly means to love; love unconditionally, love without restrictions or labels, love without fear or judgment – to just simply love.

For the most part, the rest of the story was well written. While the intervention seemed quite extreme (and how can you actually lock someone away in a facility against their will - isn't that the definition if kidnapping?), I did like how the therapy was continued for one of our MCs in particular after their intervention ended. Both Dante and Ashton had their hangups, and often didn't want to open up and communicate (and yes, it did get old fast that any talking about feelings or being open with each other was considered to be girly, that they were a pussy and needed to hand in their man card). I liked that we still got to see other characters, but still feel there is a big disconnect between Dagger and his band, whereas Ivory Tower seemed to be more of a family unit.
I will say the bit of kink was handled better in this book than previous ones - it didn't seem like the author was trying as hard, and it flowed better.
There was a definite setup for the next book to be about Linc, so that will be interesting given he's the last member of Black Ice that we need to get to know.
This is a series that needs to be read in order. As always Ann Lister gives us angst, a little darkness and a laugh or two. If you are 5 books into this series, you will want to go for book 6.
Thanks Ann Lister & Good Writing

A very emotionally charged story and subject matter made this story so believable. I recommend!

Explosive
Combustible
Fighting His Fire is book #6 in Ann Lister's
Rock Gods Series which follows band mates Dante and Ashton from "Black Ice"
I'll start off by saying this book was AMAZING, it drew me in from page 1.
Dante & Ashton's story is way different from the others in this series, their relationship is combustible very physical to the point of it effecting people around them and also to themselves making it dangerous.
We start off with both Dante and Ashton being duped into an intervention by their band leader Dagger, to say they are not happy about this and how they try to fight against it is putting it mildly. Both are very stubborn and the only way they seem to communicate is through fists and anger, but what we will all get to see is the reasoning behind their triggers and that in itself is a journey that you won't want to miss.
Dante DuPont has suffered a traumatic past that he can't seem to move on from, it is destroying him to the point he feels there is no way he can let go and move forward, this is where you will need tissues and your heart will pull at you. Ann took a very traumatic issue and brought it to light so brilliantly I can't say enough how spot on she was in writing about this subject , which unfortunately effects more people than we realize. It's not easy to write about such a touchy topic but I can't say it enough just how perfectly it was handled.
Dante has to come to a breaking point and reading it just broke my heart but following his recovery is something that will remain with me for a very long time.
Ashton Lane is young and his temper is volatile, always ready for a rebound mostly through use of his fists and jumping to the wrong conclusions is what puts him and Dante in the situation they are currently in, refusing to admit his feelings towards Dante makes for one explosive disaster after another.
When the walls are broken and Dante opens up about his past we get to witness a story of healing and coming together that is so beautiful but that does not come easy there is a lot of work to get through every step forward is two backwards there is angst and at times I wanted to scream then...... There was the sex and let me tell you WOW!!! Explosive is putting it mildly these two were HOT the chemistry between them was almost animalistic and occasionally we get to see the softer side peek through but be warned you will need a fan blowing on you during their sexy time.
Let's not forget the humor also I was laughing so hard at times at the banter between these two and also with the interaction from the other characters it was great how we were reunited with everyone.
"We're about to tear up another bathroom, aren't we?" Ashton panted before he took another kiss from Dante.
"I'll do my best not to break anything," Dante replied.
"I can't make that promise." Ashton smirked.
It only took seconds before the sounds in the bathroom escalated.
"I thought the intervention worked.
Are those two #%*%*** still fighting?
"The intervention did work," Dagger replied.
"Then why does it sound like they're on a killing spree?" Cooper asked.
"Give it a minute,
See I told you. The intervention worked wonders. However, it has driven up the costs of our room damages."
Well you get the drift on how explosive and scorching the chemistry is between these two.
I'll leave you all here because I do not want to give anything else away about this brilliant story so please if you are looking for a well written heartwarming beautiful sexy story go "one click" this baby now. And if you are new to the series grab your copies of books 1-5 you will not be disappointed.
I highly recommend this book ( and series) and am so anxiously waiting on the next book about Black Ice member Lincoln
Way to go Ann Lister another Brilliantly written story.

Ashton and Dante have always been close, we know something is off between them, they seem to have this love/hate thing going on, of course we have know idea what it is, we can only guess.
This series started in 2013 with Dagger and Ryan I remember it well because it was the first book I had read where both leads were Male. I was completely hooked not only because of that but it's the way Anne lister writes and portrays her stories and five or so books on from then I still feel the same way, can't get enough.!
You know Fighting His Fire is going to be brilliant because this author delivers all the time, there's never an once of dissapointmpent and the proof was defiantly in the title, there was certainly a lot of fire.
Throughout this book there were so many touching and vulnerable moments and some really delicate issues that related to Dante, all dealt with and incorporated well with the storyline, here we had two very strong alpha males that for most of the tiime wanted to tear each other apart be it for what ever reason and then in the next breath you were witnessing something else intirly.
Ashton and Dante's story is beautiful and Anne Lister never fails to give us what we want, she gets the balance spot on with equel amounts of emotion very endearing moments, drama and tension and not let's forget the sexual type too..!!I
I thought Dr Collins's character came across very real especially when Dante was seeing him at his home it felt so natural the way they were interacting was brilliantly portrayed.
Dante eventually overcame his issues it was a slow progress but with help from the good Doctor and Ashton's support he's able to move on and even more so after witnessing Ashton being attacked, it certainly put things into perspective fo both of them, to think at the beginning they were causing each other unessisay pain by fighting their feelings and love for each other in stead of embracing it, they just didn't realise it at the time but they got there in the end thank goodness.
I loved the epilogue again you can help absorbing everything that goes on it's just so addictive and now we have this problem with Lincloln or so it seems, being kept in the dark on that one, is Behind The Rock going to be about him?? I can't wait to find out..!!

Dante and Ashton were on the path to physical destruction of each other and would have killed each other if Dagger (lead singer of Black Ice, their band) hadn’t thrown them into a room and demand they fix the rift between them. Dante and Ashton are both fire driven and when these two come together, it is raw and explosive. Let’s just say rooms are ripped apart, literally. The desire and passion fuels these two men to the part you feel consumed and on fire feeling their story. Dante had locked away his painful, traumatic past of child abuse and with the help of the good Dr. Collins and Ashton, Dante is brought to live in the present and not be afraid to feel. Dante is also a life saving hero for Ashton at one point in the story. Ashton himself has abandonment issues but Dante was there to help heal that emotion. Ann is an amazing writer to bring to light real life abuse that unfortunately happens but does this so brilliantly. My heart ached for listening to Dante’s story but was filled with love with the strength of Ashton. When both of them come out of the week-long lock down, they are emotionally and physically drained yet they realize they are each other’s heroes and life support and cannot breathe without each other. Dante and Ashton accept that love always conquers all.
What I enjoy about Ann Lister’s books is that her stories are so well written, that once you start reading the first page, you are captured in her characters and their story that you do not realize you have sat down to read a chapter or two but then a few hours have gone by when you realized you just read “The End,” and want to cry because you want to stay in their world forever. All her stories are worth multiple reads and Fighting His Fire is most definitely one of them. P.S. A combo story of your men with the Skull Blasters team would be unforgettable :)

The child abuse was dealt with in a realistic and respectful way, if that can be.
I was drawn into a story of self forgiveness which comes so often comes hand in hand with being abused.
Great show of when one situation exists, usually the polar opposite occurs,,,BRAVO
