There are many notable women of the bible. Women like Gomer, a prostitute who God told Hosea to marry, Hannah who was barren and being made fun of by her husband's other wife and Jezebel was a mean spirited woman who ran her husband's kingship. We can read their stories, on the pages of history, but have you ever wondered how these women would act, think, dress and talk if they lived in today's society?

Bible Chicks, Book 1 and Book 2 is a collection of short stories depicting the lives of some biblical women, we've chosen. Although we've updated their stories, from today’s perspective, we have remained grounded in their biblical heritage as to not lose sight of who they truly are.

It is our hope, by 'updating' their stories, you will get a better understanding of these women's stories and strength.

Book one, written by Khara Campbell features: Woman with the issue of blood, Rehab, Leah and Tamar. Book two, written by Lakisha Johnson features: Gomer, Hannah and Jezebel.

I enjoyed reading these Bible stories translated into modern times. It really makes the Word relatable. It allows you to see yourself in many of the Bible chicks but doesn’t leave you in “that place” because each chapter provides a prayer to connect you back to the Lord. This book is based on 3 women who you can find their story in the Old Testament in the Bible. The author took these women stories and wrote them as if they lived in today’s time and not biblical times.
You have Gomer who was a prostitute who God told Homer, a man obedient to God’s Word to marry her. For Homer that is a true testament of faith to marry someone that sells her body to numerous men most of her life and the whole town knows about her lifestyle.
Then there is Hannah story who is barren and wants more than anything to give her husband a child. Hannah is always sad and crying so she has to endure the ridicule and harsh teasing from her husbands other wife who does have children. Some of the things she said and did to Hannah I think I would have to give to her one good time to leave me alone.
The last women is Jezebel who truly is mean, causes problems by over ruling her husband the King Kingdom. Instead of worshiping the true God she worships the god Baal who can not do anything miraculous for Jezebel and her followers.
I really like the way the author updated the storyline as if they lived amongst us today. You truly get a understanding of the lessons and meaning of Gods Word for us to live by.
I highly recommend this book to read and any other books by this author. She has a way of writing her stories that are subjects of what we may be going through in life and no matter what God has a Word to help you get through your circumstances.
