I had hoped that it would have embedded itself in my mind, and that I should have been eager to get back to it, but that wasn't the case.
There were too many sequences in the book where the story went into long paragraphs about how much the two loved each other. Granted, it needed those sequences to establish how far they were willing to go to show that love for each other, but I found myself becoming more and more detached from the book the more it happened.
Then during the rescue, the couple had to have a make-out session that turned out to be life threatening. And you'd think, that with both of them being government agents that they would know better. but alas, they just can't keep their hands off of each other. What an eye roller.
Then at the end of the book, I found myself saying, "Oh, common, just get it over with and end already." The action was gone, and there was nothing to do but get the bedroom scene out of the way, and I'm not the kind of person to see a bedroom scene as a happy ending. They talked too much, and I just wanted to end it by that point.
Otherwise the book was well written, the bad guys were pretty scary, with very realistic dialog. It just was not enough to carry the story for me, so I won't be buying the other books. It really is a matter of opinion in this case, and most readers seem to really like it. I'm just not one of them. See for yourself if this is the story for you, I mean, you can't go wrong with free, right?
