The Christmas Shop: A Novel Kindle Edition
From USA Today bestselling author Nancy Naigle, The Christmas Shop is a heartwarming Christmas story about finding your passion for life and love.
A holiday retelling of You've Got Mail that will make you fall in love with the Christmas Season!
Angela Carson wants nothing more than to be the third-generation to run her family’s holiday store, Heart of Christmas, successfully. They’ve weathered over sixty tourist seasons, major hurricanes, and urban sprawl, in their old decommissioned lighthouse. But the national chain that set up shop in their small North Carolina town of Pleasant Sands may be more than Heart of Christmas can survive.
Encouraged by her niece to ask Santa for help through the Dear Santa app, Angela gives in and lets the words fly in a way that, if Santa were real, would no doubt land her on the naughty list. What’s the harm when it’s just a computer-generated response?
Geoff Paisley has been at his mother’s side running the mega-chain Christmas Galore for the last ten years. When his mother falls ill, Geoff promises to answer the Dear Santa letters in her stead. Soon he realizes the woman he’s been corresponding with on Dear Santa is Angela. How could the woman that grates his every last nerve in person have intrigued him so deeply through those letters?
When Geoff reveals that he’s her Dear Santa, will Angela be able to set aside their very public feud to embrace the magic of the holiday and possibly find true love?

- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2018A delightfully charming holiday novel that was so beautifully written I felt like I was in the Outer Banks in the enchanting little beach town of Pleasant Sands, NC. I really liked the instant attraction and dynamic between business competitors Angela Carson who owns Heart of Christmas located in the old lighthouse at the edge of town and Geoff Paisley, co-owner of the mega-chain Christmas Galore.
Ms. Naigle hit all the right places in this can't-put-down book with humor, poignant moments, family drama, sweet romance and Dear Santa letters. This book put a smile on my face, joy in my heart and ready for the holidays. Fans of this genre will love Dear Santa.
I received a free advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my voluntary and unbiased review. I liked it so much, I purchased a copy for my keeper library.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2021Not realizing that "Dear Santa" and "The Christmas Shop" were the same books I managed to, over the years, purchase them both. That's always frustrating. So, take note of the name of the books being the same so you don't manage to make the same mistake. Ah well, what can you do? Anyway, take note of that one. Now to the actual review.
This is a very cute Christmas book. If you like Hallmark movies you'll like this book. It's a Hallmark movie without the ice skating. Angela just wants to continue to run her families Christmas shop, Heart of Christmas. However, as things go, a bigger national chain store is taking over with cheaper prices and the family store may not be able to compete. Her little niece knows what to do! She tells her all she has to do is ask Santa, of course! She shows her aunt the Dear Santa app she's been using to email Santa. So, with a little nudge from her niece and a why not? attitude she takes the plunge.
On the other side of the story is of course the one running the chain store and he's got the looks and charm that all leading men have. Geoff Paisley has been working with his mom from day one to make the store what it is. However, when his mom suddenly winds up sick she makes him promise to take over answering the Dear Santa letters that she's been doing for years and holds dear to her heart. So he does. Of course he comes across Angela's letter and after a short while figures out who it is but doesn't tell her right away.
I'll leave it there because the story line and plot really aren't all that complicated or hard to figure out, which is fine in this kind of story. It's just a fun Christmas story that is sweet and able to put you in the Christmas mood. Like I mentioned before, it's very Hallmark movie like so you can sort of picture it playing out like that but in a pretty wealthy seaside town.
This is a cute story so I definitely recommend it to fans of the Hallmark type story (I know I keep referencing that but it's similar enough that 'if you like that you should like this' fits here perfectly) and Christmas books in general. It's a good book but just please be aware of the two titles!! Don't buy it twice unless you mean to!

Anita and Geoff are business rivals. They are also immensely attracted to each other. You feel their connection throughout the story and hope it works out. You’ve Got Mail holiday romance in a beach town deep with history. Charming and delightful.
The Santa letters as chapter headers were adorable. Sometimes funny, some sad. I often thought about what my reply would be. The Pleasant Sands history chapter headers were well thought out and made the town real. The secondary characters have depth and make me want to revisit this beach town.
A wonderful holiday romance.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2020I know this will probably not sit well with some but I loved this book. The reason? No cussing, no going to bed with each other until marriage (main characters) & a good plot. For me this makes for a good book.
It would be wonderful if Amazon would be able to put some kind of rating for their books. I realize a majority of folks don’t mind but I do.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sweet small-town character romance
If you're looking for a sweet, chaste romance with lots of character background and development, you'll enjoy this. I prefer steamier romances and this book didn't even include a single kiss, so it's not really my thing. It was otherwise enjoyable though. The setting and small-town atmosphere were sweet, and the setup was enjoyable as well. The ending was also lovely.
