This book was more than I’d expected. It had wonderful characters, and although nothing exciting happens in the story plot wise (not fast paced or action packed), the emotional development of the two mc is everything a reader could hope for in this style of contemporary romance.

For those of you who are interested, there is no strong language/swearing, physical violence or abuse (which does crop up a lot in romance books these days), or sex scenes. It is just a sweet romance with characters who learn to pick up the pieces and move on with life and love.

This story far exceeded my expectation of a women's fiction/romance!!! The skillful interface of characters dealing with past issues, present grief, and yet moving forward into future contentment is both touching and inspirational. While the main characters were younger, the supporting characters of senior citizens merged a depth of relationships in a most engaging way.

Although the main topics were quite heavy, the author's use of small town Southern lifestyles, humor, and vocabulary lightened the angst to make the story almost unbearably sweet.

The resolutions of the entwined stories were not at all expected, and towards the end I sobbed (reallly sobbed) at how all the characters made peace with their respective realities.

Just a wonderful, wonderful story. The author's remarks in her acknowledgements at the end were much appreciated, as well as her choices of geographical settings, which were accurately depicted.

What a lovely wholesome read, I absolutely loved this book, and I was hooked into the story from the first chapter. I couldn't put the book down as I had to know what happened.

Jolene spent her Summers with her aunt and uncle at their Inn. When they decide to retire and go travelling, they gift the Inn, half to Jolene and half to her cousin Reuben. When Reuben sells his half straight away, Jolene isn't sure what will happen.

Tucker is a young widower, having lost his way a little he is a good carpenter and has a good reputation. Fate brings Tucker and Jolene together as business partners. This book is their story.

Then there's Dotty, Flossie, and Lucy, all ladies of a similar age to Sugar. They've been friends for years and are a support network for each other. Once Sugar goes on her travels, they adopt Jolene into their group, and they have lots of advice for her.

It was a great read, and I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good story, with humour and some romance. There are some great quotes in this book!

She adds in romance and HEA for us to sigh over and gives us many LOL moments with her feisty, lovable, and quirky southern woman of a certain age. She makes you want to pull up a chair at the table and join in the fun. I always want they story to on and on so I can catch up with what her characters are doing... I await the next great story from one of my fav Women's Fiction writers.
