With maturity my interest in history blossomed, especially for the Victorian era; it was a period in history that saw so much change and an abundance of new and life-changing inventions and laws, making it such an interesting era to study. Having a lifelong ambition to become an author, it was after a long pause whilst raising my family in Oxfordshire, that I finally found the time and brain space to put pen to paper and begin. My debut novel, May of Ashley Green was published in February 2017. I have since published a further twelve novels and continue to write. Turning my passion into a fulfilling career as a professional author has been one of my greatest life achievements.

Whitechapel Lass by Lilly Adam is another delightful book in her list of Victorian Sagas. I always try to do a review without giving away too much of the plot, yet I want potential readers to grasp the gentleness of Lilly's stories. Yes, as in her other novels, the heroines, in this case, Ruby and then her daughter, Victoria, must overcome numerous obstacles and trials, must deal with villainous villains to finally reach the happiness they so richly deserve. One of the best things about Lilly's books is her ability to make each of her characters, whether major or minor, stand out. The reader does not have to wonder, now who was that? Each character has his/her place in the story, and his/her personality, and his/her importance to the plot. Along with weaving an excellent tale, Lilly gives us a good look at the way people, rich and poor, lived in London and other areas of England in the Victorian era.
