Roller coaster of events

The human condition, character traits family, friends, relationships conscience. The list is so long of what this book is about. Every chapter held a new surprise or revelation. I couldn't begin to understand how the minds of these characters worked. But every word was enjoyable to read. I was sometimes sad, sometimes mad, puzzled, anticipating what comes next. A very good read.

Compelling read

This is the first book I have read by this author, but it won't be the last.
I really liked Lark, the main character and was drawn into her story so much that I had to keep reading until I was done. I barely was able to put it down to eat dinner.
Gripping plot, interesting characters and lots of human angst make this book a winner.

Compelling and depressing

Trigger warnings for rape and abuse.
Stand-alone that is easy to follow but at times difficult to read due to content. No editing errors, gratuitous violence or drag-you-down drama. Not all questions are answered.
Compelling and depressing storyline filled with dysfunctional characters. Descriptive writing that draws the reader into each scene. Believable dialogue and characters with distinct personalities.
Flexible procedures, actions and reactions. Your friends failed to pick you up which gave multiple rapists the opportunity to assault you, would you still want to be around them? If you are the friend who failed would you dedicate your life to atonement?
No desire to re-read this story.
Remember this is my personal opinion and does not reflect on the author.
