I wrote this book because I love the traditions and history of college football and want to help make sure they are not swallowed up in the blast of media coverage that now dominates the game. The playing field is an important part of the history of our country and contributed greatly to civil rights in this country. Martin Luther King once said that love is the way to true change, tolerance is not enough. After the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964, the people of this country began the climb toward tolerance of people of all colors, but the love that was needed to really make the changes that needed to occur could not be forced by law onto an intolerant population. It was when people of color began to be active on the sports arenas in this country that white America began to really love the young men and women who played for their teams. That initial change in attitude toward single individuals then began the metamorphosis toward real and positive change. That change is something we need to keep working on today.

This is a terrific look at Jerri's love of college football. And in my opinion some excellent advice to help keep it the sport it is. The fan pages that talk about the traditions each school has is really cool. I have watched football all my life, it was fun learning what other schools do to get ready. It made me feel like some of the stuff my buddies and I do is not as far out as I though. Everyone will love this book.
