Mel and Cat are back at the Mansion their gorgeous beaus are all over them and murder is afoot yet again can the hunky Jack and the dashing deputy keep the girls safe especially when Mel is so set on finding the murderer or will they be to late.......

I love that Mel and Jack are together and happy I loved the mystery with the twists and turns and the ending was perfect.

I loved the culture of New Orleans and the transplant New Yorker blending in. The story was captivating and well written in Cozy style. Romance blooms but tastefully done. I could just envision the scenes even though I’ve never been there.
Artistic wording wove a story that was enjoyable and the ending was a surprise revealing the culprit in such a way it was unexpected.

I passed on the free book and bought my own copy. So glad I did. It’s a keeper!

The Mansion at Mystic Isle across the bayou from New Orleans is a resort for people interested in the supernatural. The employees include a tattoo artist, a physic, a medium, and astrologer, and more. It is the first holiday at the Mansion and things are being celebrated every day, including a special dinner with Papa Noel coming to bring gifts to the orphans. One gift in particular is $70,000 cash raised to help offset the cost of a bone marrow transplant for one of the very sick orphans. After a song preformed by the children a distraught employee bursts into the dinner with the news that Papa Noel is dead and has been run over outside the mansion.

Pandemonium follows, and before long Mel (the tattoo artist) has vowed to find out who killed her fellow employee and friend. With the help of the Mansion manager (Jack who is also her boyfriend) and others, she plunges in. Along the way she helps thwart a kidnapping, handles tattoo jobs, places a bet at an illegal betting parlor to get information about a suspect, assists around the resort when a visiting group gets out of control, and more.

With plenty of holiday spirit and good characters, this book is a fun and interesting read with much Nawlins (New Orleans pronounced correctly) history and highlights. I am sure it will be responsible for a slight spike in tourism there because it sounds like so much fun. Good mystery with many twists and a final conclusion that will shock you!

Overall, this wasn't a bad book. The plot was for the most part decently paced, and it wasn't obvious who the guilty person was, but the story just left me a bit cold. I didn't feel really connected to any of the characters, and there were times I got some of them mixed up, like they didn't have enough of their own personalities to stand apart. I'm not sure if I'll try another book from these authors or not.
