About the Author

J.A. Cummings has been writing since the tender age of five years. A graduate of the Michigan State University Honors College, she has worked in the insurance and legal fields for her entire adult life. Her first book, "Nightchild", was published in 1999 by the now-defunct publisher Kresnak Press. Since then, she has published under her own imprint, Irish Horse Productions. She has amassed a catalog of fiction, both novels and short stories, as well as a collection of poetry, all of which are available on Amazon.com as well as on her own website, www.jacummings.com. Ms. Cummings resides in Michigan.

J. A. Cummings was born in Flint, Michigan and raised in a nearby town called Clio. Appropriately enough for someone growing up in a place named for the Muse of history, she developed a passion for reading and the past that continues to this day. Her love of poetry and storytelling quickly followed.

She graduated with honors from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Spanish, History and Anthropology. She has also earned a post-baccalaureate degree in paralegal studies from Oakland Community College.

Her life has been one of numerous false starts, unexpected endings and fascinating side trips that lasted far too long. All of that chaos has informed her writing and improved her understanding of what it means to be human, both the sorrow and the glory.

She still resides in Michigan.

The fate of humanity, who will sit on the throne of Hell, and whether the Earth will still be here when we wake up in the morning sound are questions that sound like they'd add up to a ponderous, pretentious tome. Instead, Cummings gives us an engaging read, moving at a brisk clip through events driven by well-drawn characters including angels, demons, humans, and a few hybrids of the above. Several of them aren't particularly happy to be have been pulled into this particular high-stakes game, and aren't too shy about making that opinion known. All have some big choices to make, and carry the reader along for the ride. You'll be glad you met them.

Great characters, fun read

I follow the author online and was really excited for the release of this book. I wasn't disappointed! Light at the End of the World's biggest strength is its engaging characters. The protagonist is easy to relate to and the dialogue doesn't feel forced. Plenty of religious themes without a clear religious message was a bold choice, and though it read better in some chapters than others, it was nothing that interfered with enjoyment of the plot and I was happy to see this through to its conclusion. Surprisingly fun for such a heavy subject, the story takes itself seriously without being dark for the sake of it. A heroic adventure/quest type of tale with a folklore/religious setting. Inexpensive, a quick read, and you'll meet some great characters, I recommend this!
