When I finished the first book about Goose Pimple Junction, I could not wait for the second book! The main characters were lovable and fun, the Southern speak laugh out loud, and the plot was engaging. The book was also well-written and appealing. Now the second book, "Heroes and Hooligans in Goose Pimple Junction" has not let me down! The main characters continue to provide lots of humour and laughter, and the story line is, again, well thought out and very well written. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fun, light hearted read.

A nice change from big urban settings to a more family-centered small town, where most folks are related anyway. Readers get an up-close view of the advantages and disadvantages that go along with small towns. But, the human drama doesn't take a break. So the storyline keeps your attention with the drama of relationships, mysteries, and murder. Interesting characters keep you reading, along with the suspense. Most enjoyable!

Oh my gosh, this book was utterly charming! I love all the "southern" charm and the characters are even funnier in this book.
Martha Maye is divorcing her no good, snake in the grass husband. She is making a new life for herself and her daughter, "Butterbean" in Goose Pimple Junction and she is quite content to settle into her new life.
Unfortunately, her husband, Lenny, shows up in Goose Pimple. He claims he wants to "win his wo-man back," but the truth is he is a coward and he is running from a couple of thugs who are trying to collect a debt.
Lenny starts stalking poor Martha Maye and this gets the new police chief all crazy since he is crushing on Martha Maye.
When Lenny begins to up his nastiness with a custody battle, tempers flare and Martha Maye is distraught. On the evening of Oktoberfest, Lenny is found crumpled on Martha Maye's front lawn. He is definitely dead and new police office, Velveeta Witherspoon takes over the investigation.
A by the book officer of the law, Velveeta leaves no stone un-turned until she finds out who killed Lenny, even if it means looking hard at the police chief and Martha Maye.

My favorite character in this book is Aunt Imy. Oh my gosh, she made me laugh so hard when she quoted tv commercials.

What I love about this series is all the funny things that happen outside the mystery. If you read it too fast, you will miss out on some fabulous tidbits.
All the characters are quite colorful and they make the story so much fun to read. The bantering and bickering, the silliness and the small town setting make this one of my favorite series.

I was shocked when I finished, I had no idea who the killer was and the ending was a great surprise. I can't wait to read more in this awesome series.
