Many families miss loved ones when they are away serving in the military. Sometimes the service men and women are away from moms, dads, brothers, and sisters. In this story Dad and the kids, Harmony and Dominic, are home missing mom. Mom is in the United States Army, and during her deployment, she is sometimes gone for up to 12 months. Throughout the book, you experience what the family has to do to cope without mom, all the while missing her. I hope this book is a testament to those families who make many sacrifices at home and abroad so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have.

I love this book! It takes you on a journey of what it is like to have a loved one in the military. The reader learns what it’s like to be on both sides of the situation: the family at home and the service person on duty. I have family members who are currently serving our country so I can relate to this story. This is a great story for not only kids but adults and especially military families. I love the glossary, tips, and resources in the back of the book. When you see a member of the military, Thank them for their service.

It is a great book which teaches American children patriotism from early ages! The narrative is about a family which has one of the parents serving in the US army abroad. The family find the way to keep warm relationship by communicating via internet, letters and they send presents to each other. Very warm and emotional story! And the illustrations are awesome!
