I usually prefer to read books at !east 200 pages long, because, to me, it's difficult to get all of the subtleties of a story communicated in fewer pages than that. Actually, this book wasn't bad, as the plot line developed nicely in the first 100 or so pages. I just thought that the last 2 chapters were more than rushed.
April and Clay are believable characters, and I love Manatee! HIM, I'd like to meet! The plot was good, just truncated a bit.

Justice Balanced

Tilted Justice is a straightforward "whodunit ". You're introduced to the main characters, Clay and April while they are in the middle of a conversation when you open the book. There is also another character that is first a mention but then grows into a third integral character of the story named Manatee. The relationship between Clay and April can be a bit confusing and therefore distracting. It starts when you enter in the middle of their conversation. While conversing they are labeling each other differently as they speak, so it takes a while to get centered on who they are to each other and to the story. I understand the author's intent of wanting to keep Carl and April’s personal (fiancé) and business (friend, partner) relationships separate then to use dialogue as the mechanism to do so. However, as a transition tool it overwhelmed the one-dimensional dialogue to be helpful. I think sorting it out in the beginning or doing so through the three-dimensional interaction dialogue would have been much more effective. The foundation or infrastructure of the storyline suffered from lack of excitement, surprise and/or deeper or wider whodunit challenging dialogue. Character interactions and their outcomes demanded more than we always beat them up, slap them around or kill them. Notwithstanding, overall the read was nimble, and good-humored. Tilted Justice is straightforward and the best part, I was still there when the “whodunit” was solved. I settled in and read about seventy percent in one sitting and then finished off the remainder the next day. –Tex.

Overall good book

A friend gave me this copy and asked me to read it. It was a good solid book. Clay and April were good characters. Judge seems like a good guy. Having Clay and April on the trail to find out what happen was a good read. The plot was good. Overall it was a good book. I will have to look at her other books.
