I knew by the word marriage, that it meant in the conventional way, with the usual I do between a man and a woman in a church with all the bells and whistles. I wanted to say no, I should have said no, but like the fool I am I said yes.
And now I’m trying to explain to everyone, why it is that I’m breaking Rebecca’s heart and I’ve been living a lie all my life.
I’m still waiting for that bolt of lightning to strike me dead.

    First let me say that I love a nice, long story that allows me to spend a lot of time with the characters and Unobtainable definitely falls into that category. In fact, I spent so much time with Dyson and Harley that I'm actually missing both of them right now! Dyson Michaels is head of accounting at his family's firm, low man on the totem pole as far as his brothers are concerned and on the verge of losing his piece of the family pie altogether if he can't meet the terms of his grandfather's will on time. Desperation leads him to propose to a female co-worker and friend but as he's standing there at the altar, he realizes that he can't go through with it. He is gay after all and as much as he cares for Rebecca, he knows that he can never love her as she deserves to be loved. He is, in fact, in love with a male co-worker and has been for years. Harley Cooper, handsome, confident, and accomplished has been the object of Dyson's desires, but unbeknownst to all, Harvey harbors some deep, dark secrets of his own. Outing himself to family, friends and close to two hundred guests, Dyson calls off the wedding, believing that it would be better to lose everything rather than to live a lie. Harley comes to the rescue though, offering to marry Dyson temporarily, meeting the conditions of his grandfather’s will, thus securing his inheritance and his place in the family business.
    Thus their story begins…
    Well-written and chock full of emotion, Unobtainable takes the reader down a long and winding road littered with passion and pain, love and fear, family drama and more than one life-threatening event. These men must deal with their growing feelings for each other while dealing with enemies from the past and present determined to make trouble for them. They must also deal with their own personal demons, with Harley’s erratic behavior and mood swings, the result of suffering at the hands of a sadistic, abusive ex and a homophobic, neglectful mother. There are some laughs to be had here, more than a few tears and several times where you will find yourself unable to put this story down.
    There were a few editing errors though and a minor inconsistency or two with characterization which kept this otherwise fantastic story from being a solid five star read for me, but still worth every penny and every moment that I spent reading. A highly recommended MM read!

    I saw this book on my list for Kindle Unlimited and figured I would give it a go. All I can say is I blame Ms. Rose for my lack of sleep last night. I could not put this book down, and kept telling myself just one more chapter. I finally forced myself to close my Kindle when I was at 64% which was really hard to do.

    Yes, there were a few editing issues, (using here instead of hear), but in no way does it take away from the characters or the story line. I smiled, I laughed, I cried, I yelled at my Kindle. To me that is a great book. One that draws you in and doesn't let go. I fell in love with Dyson and Harley and what they had to go through to figure out that they belong together for longer than the 6 months they started with.

    The one thing I did not like concerning this book was the cover. It is almost the exact same cover that is on another book (Becoming Jake) from a different author. I am not sure if authors have a choice over their covers, but something like that shouldn't match another book, at first I thought I had already read this book because I remembered the cover from the book I just finished a few days ago. I have actually seen this quiet a few times with other authors as well.

    Although this book was free on my Kindle Unlimited, when I got done reading it, I went back and actually paid for this book so that it would always be in my Kindle for when I want to read it again. This is the first book by Ms. Rose that I have read, and I will not hesitate to read more of her work in the future.

    This book was so poorly written I finally gave up at the 10% mark and returned it for a refund. As an avid reader, I’ve read books I didn’t like or didn’t finish, but I’ve never written a bad review criticizing the writer’s work nor returned the book. Even if I didn’t like the story line, the writer’s style or the characters, I figured my expectations of the book didn’t match the writer’s vision, and I left it at that. But for the second time in a month, I bought a book that was so poorly written, I wondered if I downloaded an unfinished draft of the book. While some of the sentences are written correctly, at least half of them are so poorly drafted they completely disregard any rules on grammar, sentence construction or punctuation. There are long, run on sentences with no conjunctions or transitional words. It’s as if she wrote several short sentences and removed the punctuation to make one long sentence. For example, here’s a “sentence” from Unobtainable……

    ”The guys are meeting at Chances bar for a few drinks after work on Friday to celebrate Remington’s retirement,” he walked closer to my desk, I wanted so badly to lean into him and sniff in all of his wild masculinity, maybe even lick his face, that would do it for me.

    Here's another.....

    I fought to suppress my fantasy of walking over and caressing that perfect a$$ of his, palming each cheek while I talked dirty into his ear, before I could totally root myself in my fantasy however, he closed the filing cabinet drawer and swiftly turned, catching me gawking, as usual.

    And one last one....

    I walked out to our reception area discovering the place was barren, I was left as usual to secure everything and lock up for the night, what would they do without me?

    I’m surprised by the 4 and 5 star reviews this book received because it’s clear the writer thought editing is optional. I HATE to pay for a book containing editing mistakes. But I really HATE paying for a poorly written book that contains so many grammatical and editing mistakes that the book become unreadable. Certainly not worth the money and I wouldn’t risk buying anything else Ms. Rose attempts to write.

    This is THE most annoying /irritating / irksome book I have ever read. Nothing gels, every unthinkable cliche was chucked in weirdly. The joy of fiction is that there are no borders to the imagination picture, but here it just doesn't connect for me- the characters are odd and over the top; bad brothers just suddenly become good brothers! The mother and ex from hell are completely unconvincing, the legal aspects are nonsense, the sex is unconvincing- just because there's repeated sex in a book doesn't make it a romance either! There were so many things that bugged me in this book- to list it would take too long. Too many ideas , most not fitting together , were combined and it's a pity as this in a simpler version could've worked. Editing is also required. Frustrating!
