From Alice To Malice (Welcome to Knollville Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 5 ratings

A girl named Alice fell in a hole. Someone, or something, else crawled back out.

That was the extent of the missing person's report. It certainly wasn't much to go on, especially since the person who filed the complaint was the one who couldn't be found. Jeff's gut was insistent—there was more to this fairy tale case than met the eye—then again, perhaps it was merely time for a ham sandwich.

The Knollville series keeps getting more and more interesting! I loved this Alice installment in particular because I always found stories with dual personalities absolutely fascinating. What happens if a shy girl who is always picked on falls into a hole and switches places with a much bolder version of herself? What havoc will both Alice and Malice wreck in their respective realities? And will it be possible for the local Knocksville investigator Jeff to get to the bottom of a mysterious chain of crimes and reveal a real perpetrator?

As always, the story was imaginative and vivid. Alice was a wonderful central character and so easy to root for, and particularly when she found herself in the thick of it in Malice’s world. Malice herself was also a very interesting character in her own way and I found myself even cheering her unorthodox ways of bringing justice (or at least what she understands as justice) into Alice’s world. A fabulous mix of mystery and the paranormal! Five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alice to Malice

Alice was running. She had to escape, to be free. But little did she know that even freedom has its price. Her desperate retreat sends her spiralling down a rabbit hole, a large seasonal sink hole known to open this time of year. Nothing is as it should be in this world. Everything is opposite on the flip side, but there is a balance. Malice is the exact opposite image of Alice, a confident, powerful figure who swears to solve Alice's every trouble. There is only one thing she needs to do, swap places, Alice to Malice.

C.A. King's From Alice to Malice is another fantastic edition to Welcome to Knollville series. I have read so many of these books now that I already have an investment in the characters and the underlying threat which is steadily gaining momentum in every one of these stand-alone books. I enjoyed Alice and Malice's characters as well as the unfolding events and relationships of Jeff and Miranda as they begin to understand the true scope of their roles. Playful malice, revenge, murder, and discovery will keep you entertained as we join Alice down the rabbit hole, and Malice as she exacts the revenge Alice never could.

I am so enjoying this rather wacky paranormal detective series.
The books are imaginative, fun and easy, quick reads. They also raise the slight suggestion there could be a rational explanation for the events in Knollville ... or not.
This case is a clever combination of the Alice in Wonderland story and split personalities. Alice, running from the dire situation her life has become since the death of her father falls into a sinkhole but emerges as Malice who has been living a parallel but slightly different life.
Although the book can be read as a standalone I recommend reading the books in order as there is an ongoing thread to the series.
Great fun. I'm already looking forward to the next instalment.
