About the Author
She now translates those life lessons into her Tribal Abundance™ program, where the concept of collaboration and connection is taught as a framework for ensuring success through interpersonal networks. She designed the program herself, basing the concepts on the anthropological research of Colin Turnbull, who studied two very different tribes and how their approaches to abundance and scarcity resulted in two very different mindsets, usage of resources, and consequences.
Not only does Ildi live by the tenets of paying it forward, but she has proven it to be a legitimate principle through a community network that has repaid her with rewarding civic and volunteer connections. Ildi is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) as well as a Certified Performance Technologist (CPT). She is the recipient of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) Award of Excellence for instructional design, and holds a Master's degree in Organizational Learning and Instructional Technologies from the University of New Mexico.
Ildi's gift back to the community is realized through several volunteer activities, including board positions and committee involvement.

About the author

Living under a name that translates to “fierce warrior” in Hungarian can send many messages to a young girl transitioning from a host of divergent cultures throughout her life. For Ildi, it meant that success best happens when it is not built alone. Through a fierce and colorful past that began in South Africa, followed by part of her life in Hungary and then tiny Socorro, New Mexico, Ildi’s greatest philosophies were to listen to your gut, build a culture you believe in, and maintain a posture that promotes further enrichment.
She is the recipient of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) Award of Excellence for instructional design, and holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Learning and Instructional Technologies from the University of New Mexico.
Ildi’s gift back to the community is realized through several volunteer activities, including board positions and committee involvement on the New Mexico chapter of the International Coach Federation, and Polka Dot Powerhouse. When not coaching or consulting, she balances her life by spending time with her matched little sister, Kathleen, from Big Brothers Big Sisters. She also enjoys digging in her garden and enjoying life from her backyard patio, or going for walks with her husband, tending to two rescue dogs that watch her every move, and a wayward cat that lives on her front porch.

The author’s experience and knowledge about learning and change from her work is apparent in this book and is woven into each chapter to highlight key ideas from her years of experience. Each chapter asks the reader to reflect on their own life experiences around the principles and theories of Tribal Abundance and it makes for a compelling, insightful and a felt side-by-side journey with the author as the reader reflects on their own life at the end of each short chapter. While reading, and being a highly visual person, I felt myself visualizing the stories as if I was in a movie with the author watching her life and lessons. I had many celebratory and some painful memories of my own life be evoked in reading this book.
After reflecting on the book, I see my own life experience in the world - what ‘tribes’ I belong to, and those I want to shift away from and shift toward for a more authentic life. While she states in the book that the ideal of tribes isn’t new, and Seth Godin revived the idea in the modern information era, this book reminds us that being tribal starts first within, and then it shifts externally where it can be more challenging to move from an individualistic to tribal based working strategies.
If you are a life coach, business coach, trainer, or human resources professional, this book will likely speak volumes to you and your work in change and transformation within work environments. If you are an individual looking to understand the tenants of great work and a series of things to consider as you build and shape your professional ethos, this book is a great primer to help you on your journey. For me, I really enjoyed the book as a reminder of great moments in my own life and work career journey that I hadn’t reflected on in many years - something I don’t usually do in the context of day to day life, but that reminds me of the progress and growth I’ve come to celebrate in my own work. I think with a book like this, I could pick up this book when I need a lift or inspiration in my own work by opening this book to any page and reviewing the ideas of that chapter. This book might not be for those who require a prescriptive book on leadership, but it's a read worth any leader's time.
In personal and professional settings, moving from a scarcity mentality to one of abundance is key to success and Ildi illustrates the concept well to highlight the concept of bringing abundance into everything we do. Our self-imposed scarcity created our personal and professional limitations. If more people went into work and daily interactions with an abundance mentality we may all be a little more successful and happier in our work and personal environments.
I enjoyed reading Tribal Abundance and learning the why and how of being drawn into a tribe. I encourage you as you read to picture her smiling eyes as mentioned in the forward; with that in mind as you read you too will feel a part of her tribe, as I did.
I highly recommend reading this book. It is easy to read and will warm your heart as the author weaves her journey from a childhood that required the ability to survive to recognizing that this not the optimal way of being and, therefore, learning to adopt a more resilient and love-based approach to not only surviving but actually thriving in our current lack-based world mindset.
