Logan and his followers will do anything to see the Crown fall in order to live according to more primal instincts and desires. The rogues have no desire to ignore the human kingdom, nor do they care to obey the Crown’s dated formalities.Change is swiftly descending on the land and no one, human or vampire, will be spared from the consequences.

    Born in Shadows is a fantasy epic replete with magic, war, and sex. Written in many different POVs (similarly to Game of Thrones), it weaves together multiple storylines in Solara showing two opposing forces: the Crown and the Rogues who are on the brink of a war.

    The book was entertaining -- there are a lot of characters who surprise you. Without giving too many spoilers, I found myself rooting for certain characters and disliking others. As it is with all good fantasy novels, there are unexpected twists and turns. While the book takes some time for world-building at the beginning, the reader is rewarded as it quickly picks up at the end. Ultimately, Geary does a good job weaving together an intricate story. I'm excited to see what happens in Book 2!

    The author’s world building is substantial yet concise. Each character’s motivations and drives are well thought out and, though we certainly will not agree with every one of them, understandable. The handful of twists thrown in were realistic but completely unforeseen. I need to know what happens next, especially with my favorite couple.
