Product description

Review

After the success of the award winning, She Survives, I wasn't sure Darrow could top the semi-biographical story inspired by her grandmother; however, Strive and Protect has the same urgency as the first, but it also has something more. Set during the Great Depression, the novel takes historical facts and makes you feel like you are there, suffering with the characters. Darrow brings the time period alive. Once again, Darrow has a winner. Strive and Protect picks up where She Survives leaves off and lets the reader experience a harrowing period in American history.

Sharon has spent most of her life in Sacramento, California. She's an entrepreneur, an award-winning author, public speaker, publisher, kitten expert, and intuitive. She's also a wife of 56 years, mother of two wonderful daughters, grandmother to four great young people, and a great-grandmother to one adorable little boy.

Authors offer lots of different reasons for why they write, but Sharon writes her books and stories because she feels compelled to. Her non-fiction books and stories about animal rescues and inspirational themes draw from the amazing animals and people she's known throughout her life. Each one was written to share true stories that readers can relate to their own lives and maybe learn a little more about themselves while being entertained.

Sharon has also written a four-book Historical Fiction series called Laura's Dash that is inspired by the life of her maternal grandmother. Laura was an incredibly strong, resilient woman born in 1903 in Indian Territory #6. The series covers a life that spanned the horrendous Spanish Flu, World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, and the Korean conflict. It was written to honor a real person, but also all the magnificent, ordinary women of the times.

Writing has given Sharon the opportunity to meet and contribute to the writing community as well. She loves learning from authors from all genres and backgrounds, and then sharing those lessons with writers that are just getting started.

Sharon's philosophy of life is simple, she believes that life is a gift, and enjoying every minute of it is the best thing anyone can do!
