Lord of Shadows (Daughters of Avalon Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,434 ratings

The epic finale! “This Avalon series has earned a top-tier position with Historical and Fantasy fans! Tanya Anne Crosby has created her own mythology – where history and legend collide.” — Whiskey & Wit Book Reviews

Rhiannon’s destiny is fated from the moment of her birth. She and her dewine sisters must defeat an ancient evil, or Britain itself will go the way of Avalon. Her sisters and their champions have set the stage for a final, epic battle against the Witch Goddess Cerridwen, but Rhiannon can only fulfill her destiny if she can win the heart of the Lord of Shadows, the man who holds her prisoner.

Fueled by vengeance, Cael d’Lucy’s ambition has raised him to the pinnacle of power. Concealing an ancient secret, he’s close to achieving his desires, and once the dust of battle settles, he stands to rule again as Duke of Wales. All he must do is vanquish a slip of a girl—Morwen Pendragon’s daughter. Trouble is… Rhiannon is Cael’s match, mind, body and soul. Winning her means losing Blackwood; losing her means winning Wales, but what shall it profit a man should he gain the world, and lose his soul?

Every book was so detailed and descriptive, you could see the scenes before you. The story built with each book and I couldn't wait to read the next. Every book was a stepping stone to the fourth and final book. This one was hard to put down, needing to read every word, so I could put it all together in my mind. It was a perfect ending and I was both sad and satisfied with the ending. This is a book for all time. I'm so glad I read it.

The story line was good, but difficult to follow on all the series. The names were confusing and needed to read some of the chapters over to figure out who was who. I have read other stories of the same time line by you and continue to find them difficult to understand the storyline. But it was an interesting reading nonetheless. Something to read on an afternoon.
    thank you

Tanya Ann Crosby is a genius writing so many stories in so many themes. This is the final book in the series, I think. She left a great many questions that would make a continuum of great stories while finishing this one with a happily ever after. Good as a stand alone novel it is richer if read in the context of the complete set. This is a tale of good angels and wicked angels and unbearable neglect. There is magic and chaos, love and abandonment. Trust is hard to find and easier to lose.l. But in the end, we’ll you will have to read it for yourself navigating the twists which will keep you turning pages until the end.

In the conclusion to the Daughters of Avalon series, we focus on Rhiannon, the most powerful of the sisters, who has been jailed for the last few years by Cael d'Lucy, lord of Blackwoods and adherent of King Stephen. She needs to win him over to help defeat her mother, but it means he must betray his king and lose the power he has acquired.
This has been a good historical series. The history is good and there's just enough fantasy woven in. It's been a joy to read and the conclusion is excellent.

It’s a story about an awkward forced friendship between Rhiannon and Marcella.

It has some of the bones of a romance, but it leads with the hero and heroine already in love and quickly married. So, during the time you’d expect their love to be growing as they get to know each other, Rhiannon is being schooled on her dewine bloodline. It’s a third of the book and it’s painfully dull.

The romantic storyline is weak, but if you want to stick with that instead of The Marcella Show, you can skip everything between 28% and 63% of the ebook.

I was worried that Cael would turn out to be a villain. Sharing the name with my third son, I was delighted that his name was spelt correctly and used for a main character. Who knows, my other three sons' names might appear in future books?
