I think what I love most about Aleatha Romig's writing is her ability to surprise her readers. After two chapters, I said to myself, wait what? How did this happen? When did this happen? It seems that Fate is bringing Patrick and Madeline together for a reason. But that doesn't mean it's going to be easy for either one of them. I can't go into too much detail because I don't want there to be any spoilers but damn... there are so many twisty turns to make your head spin. Some sinister beings are lurking in the shadows and who knows what they are thinking and planning. Not to mention the real fiery sparks between Patrick and Madeline. It seems that Madeline has many secrets and so does Aleatha because by the end of the story I was stunned... What the ever loving fudgepops!!! I am desperate for answers but it seems we must wait and have patience for the truth to be revealed. Not sure how I'll go with that considering how impatient I am these days!

When the girl of his dreams walks back into his life , she isn't the innocent young runaway that he helped . She is the woman that will knock your socks off , but he thought she was dead . Why is she here and playing poker in an all stakes poker tournament . There is more to the girl that stole his heart in that alley . He wants to know why she was gone for so many years and she wants to stay but there is a reason she left and that reason will either bring them together or blow their whole world apart .
This story has I swear the best characters that the author has written to date . Maddie is a sweet girl that has been through so much and has grown up and learnt things the hard way . In some ways she is still the young girl that Patrick knows but in other ways she is a tough as nails poker player that has so many secrets . She is such a complex woman that you want to just hug and say things will be ok . There is so much you want to unravel in her life . You will love her when you start to read her . Now Patrick oh what can we say about the sexy man who is part of the Sparrows force . He is tall and sexy and oh so alpha . Patrick has also been through so much from his life , from life on the streets to the army to the elite group that is going to take down the underworld . You really want to either climb him like a spider monkey or hit him in the back of the head cause how stubborn he can be . They are a complex couple that you want to find out more about each of them . They are explosive together and will have you fanning yourself .
This book starts off with a bang and keeps you hooked from the first chapter . The author takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotion . This book is fast paced and goes on in a two day period with a poker tournament as back ground . For being the first book in the series I like that the author took us on the roller coaster ride and really didn't bog us down with back stories . She blended the back stories seamlessly with what is going on today . There is intrigue and oh the romance well it could make you kindle melt and your cheek blush . Ok going to tell you there is a big and i mean big cliff hanger at the end and so can't wait till book two comes out , crossing fingers I am hoping soon . So if you want a book that will heat up your cold nights this is the book for you . Trust me you will not be disappointed and you will fall in love with Patrick and Maddie.

I wondered when we would get Patrick’s story, and crickey was the wait worth it. We encounter all the sparrows, and their wives that we have grown to love and cherish in previous books, however this one has a different vibe. The vice of gambling. Not only on money, but dark hidden secrets. Madeline a lady from the past. A professional poker player, and a lady with a multifaceted past. Patrick Kelly a man who is incredibly involved and attached to said lady, but hesitant to tell not only Sparrow, but Reid and Mason. Is it to late? Who is the Russian Ivanov? Why is he in Chicago. So many twists turns, dark dilemmas, murder, mystery and mayhem, and yet such tender moments and heartbreaking uniting moments. Yet again the author has the correct balance of all of these factors and much more. The reader experiences and expects to be thrilled, enthralled and to enjoy such a wonderful journey through this series, that it becomes difficult to put the book down. As always with this talented author , you are left with one heck of a cliffhanger, and disclosure that you can’t wait for the next instalment, but wait we must.

Absolutely Phenomenal. I've long wanted to read Aleatha Romig, but unfortunately Spark is the first time I have been able to find a space in my blog calendar to slip her in. I know, those of you who have read her already are shaking your heads at me, and trust me, right now I am KICKING myself! Her writing was absolutely phenomenal, and I was instantly thrust into a word where kingpins run Chicago and their rule is law. This is the first book in a new trilogy—known as the Web of Desire trilogy. My understanding is this storyline comes as the third trilogy of the Sparrow’s Web series. And in complete honesty, since I’ve obviously not read these in order since that would have entailed first reading the Web of Sin trilogy followed by the Tangled Web trilogy—I understood this book as if was the first in a new trilogy and not the seventh book of a series… Great care is taken to making the plotlines clear and without completely spoiling the other books in the Sparrow’s Web series, one can still pick up Spark and understand context. Does that make sense? HA! That was a tangled web in and of itself 😉

Spark kept me on the edge of seat and was utterly unputdownable—I stayed up most of the night to finish this one. Patrick and Madeline's connection was tangible, with so much heat and sizzle, I worried my kindle (and my panties😉) were in jeopardy or self-combustion!!! The plot has me so intrigued that I am ready to reread this one just days after finishing it. It’s incredibly sexy, entertaining, and suspenseful enough to make it that book that hasn’t been far for my mind in more than a week. I’m consumed with the desire to binge read the author—and for a blogger that rarely goes a day without an early blogger copy to read and review, that’s a major problem. 😉 I can’t say enough good things about the book, but I also am hesitant to say much at all as it’s the kind of book you should go into blind. The less you know ahead of time, the more you are going to want to dive into this fantastic story. Also, I don’t want to give ANYTHING away. Spoilers suck and I’m the blogger that’s the least likely to take a chance on ruining a book for a reader.

Whether you are new—or a longtime fan—of Aleatha Romig, SPARK is the book you must, you absolutely MUST one-click. Right. Now. If I could hand this book more stars than the five I gave it for review purposes, I totally would. Oh, but definitely watch out for the cliffhanger…Aleatha definitely left Flame at the top of my February MUST READS!

Another amazing read from Aleatha! Patrick's story had me hooked from the start. The twists are there, the sitting on the edge of my seat while reading was there and the need to know more was there too! I love Aleatha's books and I love the twists and turns that she weaves. I have loved all the books involved in this series so far and this has no exception... the only problem I have is the cliffhanger! I did shout at my kindle 'no!' when I read it! Lol Thankfully it's not too long until the second book is out! As usual I did not see that coming! Thank you Aleatha for another amazing story!!
