This is going to be a great series. I can tell already. I'm not normally big on re-tellings, because I find them unimaginative for using a pre-existing plotline. Well, this is NOT that. Mason has used the bare essence of a fairy tale -- just the best parts -- as almost a lead in, and then blossomed from there, crafting a whole new universe of contemporary paranormal magic -- and horror. Her characters are bold, brazen and crafty, each unique and compelling. Her villains are devilish and manipulative. The romance is perfectly built and doesn't overtake the action or employ instalove, thank goodness. The plot? Twisting, shocking, and always mounting. Welcome to Grimm Hollow, a town where fiction is fact, and stumbling in, our main character is in for a surprise, as are we the readers. I loved getting to know the wonders in this world, though this book barely touched on all it contains, and cannot wait for the next in the series to learn more! Highly recommend for fans of fairy tale re-tellings, paranormal, a touch of fantasy and romance, and a lot of bad-a$$ self-discovery in the most empowering of character developments. I'm ready to climb into my Kindle and move right on in to Grimm Hollow ... maybe with Allya and Hunter as my guides.

I wish there was more. It's a short story and there's a lot of build up to the final fight and then it's just done. And there isn't much after that. I appreciate that it's clean so you can only go so far but some kind of affectionate interaction would have been appropriate. And they talk about the evil coven the whole time and then there were so few of them. I really expected more there. I'm not unhappy with the book. I did like it. I will read more in the series.

If you're like me and love fairytale retellings then you're going to love Scarlet Huntress! It's definitely a far different take on the classic fairytale than of any I've read as of yet, and I honestly loved it! Allya (Red) is as fiesty and sassy as she is awkward and scared. However, there's a strength of spirit to her character that has you rooting for her. And her humerous inner thoughts bring a nice balance of levity to the more serious and action-filled parts of the book. I also like that Hunter (an interesting combo of the author's own creation and woodsman) is Allya's protector, love interest, and all around pain in her ass. Their relationship is also a constant source of amusement throughout the book. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys fairytale retellings or a good book with a hot shifter, a snarky and soon-to-be badass Red, and the promise of more books to come that feature beloved fairytale heroines with a twist.

What a beautifully told retelling of Red Riding Hood!! This isn't the fairytale you thought you knew! Fall in love with Red in this action packed and suspenseful tale! The characters are so well fleshed out and the dialogue between them is snarky, hilarious, at times awkward and very entertaining. Red has led a pretty dismal existence and she doesn't expect things to change anytime soon. When she is forced to choose between her own safety and anothers, she makes a snap decision to save herself. But things just become more dangerous as she flees. With a mix of supes including witches, shifters and shaman, this is one interesting world! The history of Grimm Hallow is immense and really quite interesting to learn. I'm loving this fairytale world and cannot wait to read about the rest of the girls! LeAnn Mason has put such creativity with original twists to these characters that you can't help but to be taken captive. I absolutely adore anything by this versatile writer! One click this fairytale today, you won't regret it! 😘

The story was okay, but this was not well written. The writing was disjointed and all over the place, never quite making sense. There were plenty of things left unanswered and kind of ambiguous, with events and timelines not adding up. I had high hopes for this series, but I don't think I'll be continuing with these books.

The town is protected, and when she finally meets the grandmother she never knew was still alive, she discovers the lies she'd grown to believe through her entire childhood. And not everyone is as they seem. But when her captors come after her, will she have to give up her life to protect those she's come to care about?

This was such a magnificent take on the Red Riding Hood story. Many of the characters could be traced back to the original story, but that's where the similarities stop. This story was non-stop excitement filled with fantastic sub-stories, all centering around a young woman who is finally learning who she really is and what kind of power she actually holds. It was an amazing "retelling" if you could call it that, and I had a hard time putting it down.

Firstly I love LeAnn Mason and devoured her first series so was hoping for great things. Wowzers did this book not dissapoint. Allya is our red riding hood and has really not had the best start but through a thought time managed to escape which led her to Jason and her own wolfie side after a magical accident. This is the best fairytale retelling I have read and though it has elements of the tale is so far beyond that. The characters are amazing and I'd the plot and description that you feel like you are there. I really can't wait for more.

I love how LeAnn pulled from the tale of Little Red Riding Hood and turned it into a modern day fantasy. Allya transforms from an abused orphan raised by those that murdered her grandmother into a determined warrior and protector.
I look forward to reading more in the Grim Hollow series!

I loved The Minefield Enforcers series. Leann’s previous work.
I’m not usually a lover of different takes on old favourites but I couldn’t put Scarlet down.
I loved reading how Scarlet went from scared girl to a force to be reckoned with. Oh I love Hunter/Jason too and the chemistry between the two is amazing.
