As a reader my favorite romances are those where the hero and heroine get a second chance to right old wrongs and hopefully find their happy ever after together. Jared became a favorite of mine in the first book of the Wounded Hearts series, Tidal Falls. I knew he needed to have a chance at redeeming his past and finding someone special to love- Annie Campbell.I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did. Jared's a pretty special guy.

    This is book 2 in the Wounded Hearts series and it doesn't disappoint. Jared and Annie have a past; long time friends and a one night love affair. Jared took off to join the Nave SEALS the day after their union and 9 months later Annie delivered her son Chris.

    Now 8 years later, Jared is back and learns he has a son and is still in love with Annie. Jared doesn't want to ruin her life however. But then trouble follows Jared to town and endangers the boy. Can they work together for the sake of their son? Will they work out as a couple as well? 2 Thumbs Up for a great book.

    Jared Martin 'disappeared' 8 years ago and enlisted in the USN. Eventually he became a SEAL and served his time returning to Tidal Falls. This is a small town and one that has a most interesting mix of characters. Something about that life in a small town that captivates the reader.

    Annie did have his son and is now dating Jack, the Sheriff. She has matured in the time that Jared has been serving in the military and is confident, self-assured and working hard at her job.

    Toss in the Sinaloa Cartel, some human trafficking, a kidnapping and those will supply the action for the adventurous at heart. Also, some revengeful mobsters from Las Vegas are involved!

    For me, several things caught my attention while reading this book. The aspect of forgiveness and a second chance at life are at the forefront. Secondly, dealing with the passion of youth. Is that passion able to be ignited again?

    All in all, found this to be an enjoyable read and thought the development of the characters blended well with the plot line.

    Highly recommended.

    In the 2nd book of the Wounded Hearts Series Jared comes back to his home town, Tidal Falls, to stay. He had left after having a one night stand with Annie, the love of his life, to join the Navy Seals. After he got out of the Navy he wasn't ready to come home. He had come back briefly to help his buddy Nick and his fiance Sara. He went to Las Vegas and caused some trouble, then decided he was ready to be with his mom again. He saw Annie and her son Chris, who looked a lot like Jared. Could Chris be his son??? He finds out Annie is dating his friend Ty's brother, the sheriff. He starts working for Ty to help him renovate the old theater in town. However, his past from Las Vegas catches up with him. In the process Chris and Sara's daughter Jessica were kidnapped. Jared calls in the help of his Chief Frank and Adam who is now in the FBI to help find the children. Will they get out alive? Is Chris Jared's son? Will Jared and Annie get back together?

    I just love reading about sex trafficking. It's so uplifting, since it's so easy to find the girls and women who have been sold once you've taken down one of the thousands and thousands of lowlifes who kidnap children and young women, strip them naked, rape them repeatedly to train them, then sell them like cattle. Most of this book is OK, but there is a subplot about a DEA agent who has gone undercover as a prostitute, who is now shackled naked to a bed in a room full of other woman in the same position. First of all, you can't go undercover as a prostitute in a criminal organization unless you're willing to actually work as a prostitute. Someone will notice your customers aren't getting what they paid for. And the management will want to observe or sample the merchandise. So that's weird. And I don't think traffickers want pros. So the plot seems off. Which is fine because I never would have picked up the book in the first place had I known it contained this, which does NOT get resolved, by the way. I guess there will be a book that's all sex trafficking all the time. Oh boy.

    This book went slow at first and sped up faster than I would have thought any story could. I hadn't read the first book in this series so I was on a different level in assessing the situation but I got it pretty quickly. Home town boy joins the service after doing irreparable damage to his friendship wth the girl of his dreams. Finally comes home to help a fellow Navy SEAL out and finds out he has a son. At first a little pissed off but realizes he still loves Annie. Annie on the other hand doesn't want anything to do with Jared until their son is kidnapped along with her best friends daughter. Everything comes to a head at a lake but the story will continue with the next book in the series. Bi will have to go back to get the first one but I will get through all the books in this series.
