Review
Sharyn Bradford Lunn's Peril In The Pines is a well-developed story that is very easy to read, containing clear and precise language with no distractions. The plot unfolds in a very structured and logical way, allowing the tale to flow smoothly whilst maintaining a good level of engagement with the reader. The characters were all well defined, particularly the sisters Cody and Scout, who displayed very real young adult behaviors and sibling interactions. The inclusion of Brad's accident was a clever subplot, which allowed the main focus to center on Cody, whilst also stepping up the anxiety levels surrounding the main players. I also enjoyed the relationship between Cody and Sheriff Lockridge, and at times felt a great deal of empathy for his situation. Overall, a truly wonderful drama-mystery." ~ Readers' Favorite

About the author

Sharyn Bradford Lunn was born in Sydney, Australia, but most of her schooling occurred in a small country town before she returned to "the big smoke" so she enjoys both city life and the rural hideaway. Before embarking on a career in nursing she worked briefly in a telephone exchange then a kindergarten. Sharyn has also worked as a senior investigation officer with the New South Wales Health Department and later the Health Care Complaints Commission.
After reading Alex Haley's Roots, she developed a passion for genealogy and history that deepened with the ensuing years. This went hand in hand with another newly discovered interest: writing. And so the Southern Skyes series was born.
Now, after writing six books in the series Sharyn has turned her attention to another of her passions - the good old fashioned mystery, and is currently working on her first cozy mystery series featuring a young college student, Cody Costin, as the amateur super sleuth, as well as an archaeology mystery series.
When not writing or researching, Sharyn can be found enjoying time at home on the New South Wales Central Coast with family and friends, swimming, hiking, walking her dogs, reading, painting, tracing someone's family tree, or enjoying a rock concert. She digs a good rollercoaster ride as much as a trail bike ride. To round out her adventurer's spirit, she embraces the joy of travel and learning about other cultures.
Look for more books from Sharyn in the coming months and years, as she develops the Cody Costin Cozy Mystery series as well as tinkers in other writing endeavors.
If you enjoy her books please spread the word and consider leaving a book review . . . they are always very much appreciated.

Story has an easy narrative that carries the reader fairly well. It takes a while to dive into the mystery as many characters get into the mix and complicate things. But once the inquisitive Cody starts asking the right questions, we start getting somewhere.
A decent mystery.
Cody is relatable, brilliant and a terrific sleuth. I'd want her on my team, if I had a mystery to solve.
Five out of five stars for this terrific tale!! Well done, Sharyn! Well done!!
I liked her younger sister Scout too. She cracked me up, and being girls of a single mom, these two were more mature than your average teens. I liked how they could kick back and hang out as sisters for dinner (although I think Cody always had investigating on the brain haha), then they could turn around and be a responsible job holder (Scout) and holders-down-of-the-homefront for Mom while she was tending to their brother who'd had an accident in California.
There was a good showdown, and the whodunit was someone I'd started suspecting around when Cody did. Cody just lucked into some other people being around to help out, but she held the killer off. The sheriff always had the girls' back and even though he was sweet on their mom, he gave them a good share of scolding for investigating a dangerous case. I looked up the blurb for the next one, and it sounded really good-and I found out I won't need to borrow it on KU, because somewhere along the line I bought it.
If you like surprises, twists and unexpected turns you'll love this book -- it has them all
I look forward to future stories in this series.
