About the author

D.R. Bailey was raised in a family of bibliophiles. From an early age, he developed eclectic tastes in fiction including Sci-Fi, Romance, Crime, and the Classics. Some of his favourite authors are still Gerald Durrell, Jane Austen, Peter James, Ellis Peters, and Isaac Asimov. He began his writing journey at the age of eleven with a fictional story about his toy teddy bear clan. To date, he has published four major fictional series. Apart from writing, Bailey has engaged in several different careers and says that these life experiences have all contributed greatly to his penchant for storytelling.
Bailey’s most successful series is his WW2 Aviation Thriller, The Spitfire Mavericks, published by Sapere Books. It features spies, thrilling action-packed aerial combat, romance, and more. The series features a maverick crew of pilots thrown out from every squadron. The hero of the hour, Flying Officer Angus Mackennelly, endeavours to save the day in a series of thrilling adventures. The series has been a best seller on multiple Amazon lists in several countries and still rides high in the charts.
Following the success of the Mavericks series, Bailey has now written another WW2 Aviation Thriller series also published by Sapere Books, The Secret Sirens. The series poses the fictional question of what if women flew into combat with the RAF in WW2. The series features exciting secret missions by the Sirens squadron, spies, intrigue and more. Strong female leads combine with some great storylines to bring the reader an adventure to keep the pages turning.
Bailey has also penned and independently published five full-length crime novels in the DI Gallway series which is a genre he is particularly fond of. The stories contain a heady mix of crime, suspense, humour, steamy romance and much more. Bailey has also tackled some controversial and topical subjects surrounding the Catholic Church. The stories are set in Ireland, and Bailey confesses to having a great affection for the Irish.
Bailey has also independently published The Innocent Killing, and four other books in a Legal Drama series featuring a fictional barrister in Dublin called Bernadette Mackenna. This new series is a steamy spicy mix of legal drama with a strong element of same-sex romance.
The Spitfire Mavericks, The Secret Sirens, DI Gallway Investigates, and Bernadette Mackenna Investigates will hopefully continue for many more books to come. Bailey pledges to continue writing for as long as he can. Bailey is dedicated to excellence and writes with passion but at the same time tries to make his words accessible to those of all persuasions, sometimes shocking perhaps, but never dull.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2020It was so nice to get back to the world of DI Gallway. I just love Seamus and all the musings in his head. His relationship with Kerry is so damn cute and we get a lot of it in this book, which was amazing. Also, we see Liam try to grow up a bit with Fiona but, alas, he still has some lessons to learn. Diana makes quite a few appearances which I was happy to see because her character rocks. If you like mystery novels with wonderfully developed characters, this series is for you. I forgot how much I loved each and every character in this book and it was so fun to revisit them again!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2019Enjoyable second outing in a unique mystery series that combines hard-edged police procedural with a surprisingly gentle emotional core and lots of humor. I found the switch in tone between horrific crimes and lighthearted humor a little jarring in the first book in the series, but I think it is more successful here. We are getting to know more about DI Gallway and his diverse crew of investigators, and this book continues and wraps up some of the loose ends from the first one. Diana was an unforgettable character in the first book, so I was happy to see more of her here and find out how her story unfolds. This book is a bit of a two-fer as there is a trial drama that plays out alternating with the new investigation the team is involved in. The stakes are even higher this time around as high-ranking officials are implicated in a far-reaching conspiracy. I enjoy the characters, the tone, the humor, and the emphasis on love and friendship in this series. If you haven't read the first one yet, you'll definitely want to start there to fully appreciate this pleasing sequel. The ending sets the scene for further adventures to come for the gang, and I'll be following along to see what happens next! (Book contains strong language and sexual situations.)

5.0 out of 5 stars A worthy succession to the first book in the series.
I loved book one - The Confessional Killers yet it took me a while to get around to book two - simply because the first novel drew me in so hard that I knew I would need a decent space of free time where I wouldn't be interrupted to dedicate. It's also nice to have something you are looking forward to in the wings for just when you need it! Book two has not disappointed. Despite its impressive length the story was devoured in three sittings and with as much joy and enjoyment as the first. The characters continue to pop from the page and despite the gritty themes, there is a warmth and humour that comes from well conceived characterisation and interaction. Apart from being a very solid second outing for DI Gallway and his rogues gallery of companions, there is also a lingering pleasure from getting to know the characters you thought you already knew a lot better. I find the works to be fresh and fast paced, with a huge dash of human interest. Once again, a triumph in my eyes. Looking forward to the third outing!

5.0 out of 5 stars The second instalment does not disappoint
Seamus and his crew are back, and if you thought they meant business the first time round, you're in for a treat.
Picking up not long after the first instalment, all our favourite characters return and they bring new friends and enemies with them.
The past paced story has everything you could want from a crime novel - murder, car chase, courtroom drama, conspiracy, human trafficking, cover-up, hostage situation, foul-mouthed parrot and don't get me started on the romantic threads. Not everything is wrapped up and I'm eager to get to the next book to see what happens next.
Spoiler alert - O'Rorden gets more cake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!
It is great to have another adventure with the characters that I got to know in the first book. Their personalities are really developing and you are finding out more about them.
In this episode, the book very cleverly blends the court case resulting from the first book into this story, so you get to find out the legal conclusion.
Once again, there is plenty of action, thrills, comedy and romance, and I found it hard to put it down! I am really looking forward to the next book, as I'm sure the author will create more surprising and entertaining adventures for me to enjoy!
