Christine Stewart is a regular woman just doing her job when she gets stranded in history. When she gets up for the day, her plan is simple: go to work, travel back in time to the year 1867 in Oklahoma to deport a cyber-criminal, then head back to her time in 2070 Los Angeles and get ready to go on vacation with her son, Michael.
Then the system goes down and she-and dozens of other transporters around the world-are stranded in the past with minimal training and no supplies.
Just when she thinks things can't get any more dangerous, she is cast further back in time and thousands of miles away.
As her goals shift from simply getting home to something much more dire to all of humanity, Christine must step outside of herself, work as part of a team, and ultimately make the choice between what it easy and what is right. Even if it costs her everything-including her one chance of ever getting home.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2023No Way Home: A Time Travel Novel of Adventure and Survival (A Christine Stewart Time Travel Adventure Book 1), my first read from author Christy Cooper-Burnett. How long is your TBR list? I received a free Kindle copy of this book back on July 27, 2020, added it to my TBR list back on December 5, 2021. I added Finding Home: A Time Travel Historical Adventure (A Christine Stewart Time Travel Adventure Book 2) on December 5, 2021 and promptly lost track of both. On September 6th of this year I became aware of Escaping Home: A Time Travel Historical Adventure (A Christine Stewart Time Travel Adventure Book 3), added it to my TBR list & rediscovered the first 2 books. My mistake! An enjoyable 247 page time travel thriller. “I'm voluntarily leaving a review of it." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author on to book 2. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2023“No Way Home” (Christine Stewart Time Travel #1) by Christy Cooper-Burnett ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Genre: SciFi/Time Travel. Location/Time: Los Angeles, California, USA 2020, Piedmont Oklahoma, USA 1867. Cotswold, England 1335.
2070 Los Angeles: Christine Stewart (40) is a prisoner transporter. She travels back in time to 1867 Oklahoma with a convicted cybercriminal, and expects to head home after dropping him off. But the system breaks down. Christine and 51 others are stranded across the past with no supplies, and no working transponder devices to get them home.
1867 Piedmont: Six months later, she’s still in Oklahoma. Her only friend, Annabelle, is also a stranded transporter. Then Christine’s transponder lights up.
1335 Cotswold: Her transponder barely works, and Christine is accidentally sent to medieval England. She meets other stuck transporters, including some with ulterior motives. Meanwhile in 2070 Los Angeles, a software CEO worries about the next pandemic, predicted by the surviving part of a 1335 English theory. He needs the missing pages.
Author Cooper-Burnett switches points of view frequently to show us how different characters experience the shifting times. The dates/places are labeled, but I really wish each change was labeled with the narrator’s name. She tucks in a little USA alternative history with the story of how an argument between a transporter and convict led to the 1692 Salem Witch Trials.
Cooper-Burnett has begun an interesting, action-packed series. It may be time travel, but it’s relatable! Her characters are easy-to-like and their destinations based on history. You’ll learn the reality of living in harsh conditions where dying from hunger, disease, accidents was a common event. I want to read the next book, and I hope it has even more details about clothing, food, and customs! It’s 4 stars from me🌵📚💁🏼♀️
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2023This is a nice variation on time travel and hopefully it will evolve into a series. The main characters are well depicted, believable and courageous. I’ve read a lot of time travel adventures but this one was unique and I found hard to put down. You are in for a fun, entertaining read!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2020Oh, I thought, a time travel book. Okay, but it won't be as good as Michael Crichton's Timeline. I was right. No Way Home was better. The premise was more interesting with the transporters delivering cyber criminals to places and times where their skills would be useless. Then the first twist left Christine stuck in 1867 Oklahoma. Next twist? She's not the only one. And it goes on from there getting more and more interesting. How interesting? I read from page 89 to the end in a hospital lobby across from the entrance to the emergency room with a TV blaring Fox News in the corner while waiting for a friend. And there were virtually no errors in punctuation and spelling. I want to read more about Christine Stewart and the other transporters.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2020An excellent premise, not so well rendered, partiucarly in the research department. No tea in English until at least 1660, and the plague didn't get going until at least 1347. The travelers had no problem understanding the speech of the locals in 1335 and vice versa, which is totally unrealistic. The book could have done with a good editor to eliminate the grammar problems. However, if you are not a picky reader, you will probably enjoy this book, because the story was a good idea.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2021If you like the description & ebook cover, you should like this. There are obviously holes in the theory/plot of possible time travel by 2060, & unlikely concept of exiling cyber criminals in the past, but I do applaud the imagination involved. As a fan of historical fiction, I expected more immersion with people and places in the past. Yet this story had more on ordinary human interaction, relationships & dialogue between people of 2070, with little more than merest appearances or insertion of timelines with other characters around them. Not to mention the implausibility of clear speech communication in medieval England. Shakespeare dialogue is difficult enough to speak or understand & was 200 yrs. later. Found the insertion of asking for the bathroom or even to “pee” in 1335 plus handshakes with the locals unlikely. However, it was good, easily readable without boring me with extra pages and the need to scream at actions by the heroine. At the end the author tells us that her work “focuses on creating relatable stories and characters that transcend genres and encourage readers to imagine what they would do if thrown into the unique, imaginative situations her protagonists end up in”. For me she succeeded admirably and she left an ending allowing for follow-up books. Would like to see more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Time Travel Adventure Story
No Way Home is an exciting time travel adventure that spans both the past and future. Christine is a Transporter - which is a job in the future where you get to escort cyber-criminals back into the past because it's better than supporting them in a penal system. They get to live out their life in the past and the taxpayer gets to fund hospitals and education and other important things. Everyone wins right?
Well... not quite, because it turns out that the technology isn't perfect and things go wrong. Christine is stranded in 19th century Oklahoma and then things get worse from there. We follow Christine as she uses her wits and resourcefulness to escape Native Americans, an overly affectionate middle aged man and nasty infectious diseases - as well as a plot to meddle with history.
The story is faced paced and entertaining as we follow Christine's bad-to-worse predicaments as well as her son's efforts - in 2070 - to save her. It's a great plot and the author has a great way of finding the voices of her characters. It feels well researched and was a fun read. I enjoyed it and I certainly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A welcomed different use of time travel.
I enjoyed the book. Finally a time travel book where it was not for fortune or fame.
I like the practical use of time travel without it being hundreds of years in the future.
The book was a good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but....
Interesting storyline and characters. Main flaw for me was grammatical errors, some of which looked like auto spell check putting in the wrong words. I liked the characters, although they were a little 2-dimensional at times.
