Ted Tayler is the international best-selling indie author of the Freeman Files and Phoenix series. Ted lives in the English West country, where his stories are based. He was born in 1945 and has been married to Lynne since 1971. They have three children and four grandchildren.

His thought-provoking mysteries appeal to readers of Sally Rigby, Joy Ellis, Pauline Rowson, and Faith Martin. His action-packed thrillers are a must for fans of Mark Dawson and J C Ryan.

Gus Freeman’s cold case investigations are carried out with reasoned deduction rather than bursts of frantic action. In each of the 24 books, unsolved murders are accompanied by romance, humour, and country life. The core message in the 12 Phoenix novels is that criminals should pay for their crimes. Unfortunately, the current system fails to deliver the correct punishment, so Phoenix helps redress the balance.

This is so very fast paced trilogy. The characters and plots are incredible. The editor needs to do a little more justice by the writer by cleaning up the typos and word omio throughout. Also a few scenes were apparently misplaced. Overall, I look forward to reading more from this very capable and spellbinding author.

I can see how some Americans can be off put in this book, but if you give it a chance it is very good. The author is English, and thus the book is very heavy on British idioms which made it s slow read for me.

This book is what I would call a transitional book. It starts off with our old pal phoenix, then for a long while seems to forget all about him and the Olympia project. Just about when you have given up all hope of hearing any more about them they reappear. The reason is simple, the Author is fleshing out some new characters for future instalments.

Over all a great story and a fine read

I loved the action in this set of books. You will definitely get the surprise of your life in who you want to win. The rating would have been higher if the typos weren't so plentiful. Very enjoyable reading.

I loved the books but had a hard time reading them because of the grammar and punctuation errors. The first two were not that bad, just a few errors that would frustrate me, but the third book was full of grammar errors, from placing commas in the middle of where they didn't belong, leaving them out where they did belong, using semicolons in the middle of nowhere, and especially incomplete sentences... words just totally left out. Other than that, they were good books that could bring you to the edge of your seat, but like I said, the third one became very frustrating.

The Phoenix Series (Books 1-3) are a fascinating and fast moving series of connected vigilante events set in the UK that illustrate the need for better policing, criminal justice, and vetting of immigrants in the British nation and society as described in this series of books. A secret society, The Olympus Project, has undertaken an effort to fill the void left by official government law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, including the court system and the prison system, under current British law. The reader is given a lesson in British history, current British law and the current British criminal justice system with all its flaws in an effort to justify the need for the Olympus Project members who work tirelessly to right the wrongs left by the official British government law enforcement agencies.

Watching the budget cuts and modern politics destroy their perceived view of the country’s security a privately funded group builds it’s own alternative secret service. Whether you agree with the concept of a private sector army or not this makes a great series.

I read the prologue to this volume of three first, Phoenix, conception gives the necessary background to understanding Colin Bailey, aka Phoenix, and I recommend it. The events in these books are all written around real events - the London Olympics, the flooding in the Somerset Levels (a disaster for the people living in that part of southern England) and the Queen's Royal Jubilee visit to Bristol. Colin is believed dead by the police, but is, in fact recruited by a super secret organisation dedicated to dealing with the criminals that are the worst of human society that the police either can't deal with, or the courts are far too lenient with, as well as keeping the country safe. i can imagine that the meticulous planning necessary might seem a mite tedious for those who like their exciting action non stop, but for me, it helps the excitement of the mission build. At the end of book 3, an era in the organisation ends, and a new one is about to begin in book 4. I'm looking forward to reading volume 4-6.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good sophisticated vigilante thriller

The theme is that a well funded group of former soldiers operate in secret to avenge and prevent crimes.

Within this theme there are well paced individual episodes where our heroes take revenge (e.g. executing a serial paedophile given a community service sentence) or prevent atrocities undetected by the police or MI5 (e.g. an attempted assassination of the Queen.

The 3 books hold the attention. I shall need a pause before attempting Book 4 as it could become repetitive.
