Double Alchemy: Climax Kindle Edition
A BLINDING LIGHT
It begins with a Book of Shadows discovered by a London coven. The grimoire is as dangerous as it is rare, which is why it evokes modern-day warlock Quinn Fairmont’s desire. He collects objects of great power and beauty—like his lover, Cade Mairston.
Against all odds he and Cade found each other, but their perils have just begun. First is the ex-lover who once held Quinn in thrall. And, someone has been killing warlocks.
Could it be one of their own kind? There are those too who would challenge Quinn’s power in their quest to overthrow him as Grand Master. Or is the danger something darker, something invoked inadvertently, rising from the shadows, building from the very inside of a man until it brings an end with a quick flash of light? Of the truth, the surface has only been scratched. Now Quinn and Cade must go deeper and find both answers and an end. They must learn what lurks in the hearts of men...and whether it seeks to love or destroy.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 June 2014The other reviews say it all... This is another 5 star read from this author!
This is the second book to Double Alchemy which was a amazing read. This book follows on where the last one finished and had me on the edge of my seat throughout! Susan Mac Nicol writes beautifully and this was no exception. The book is full of romance, suspense, crime mystery, murder plus a wonderful storyline!
I always find her books easy to read although never easy to put down.
This was a perfect sequel to the first book and although I loved the ending I would happily read more from these amazing characters!
Highly recommend this series!!!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 May 2014To start with I love this author and here there is her usual magical writing style that I love along with deep characterization. I fell in love with this author after the first 'double alchemy' and I have now read nearly all her other books, I also really enjoyed getting to know Cade and Quinn again.
However, I couldn't quite give this one full star rating and here is why...there were just a few teeny tiny bits that frustrated me and left me wanting more and I was sad about that.
Firstly I was waiting for a real dramatic climax...magical showdown and there really wasn't one to speak of as the witchfinder General climax ended very easily and what I thought would build with Cade's magical fey side really didn't materialize as I had expected.
Next I really wanted to see what Cade's magic would be and his discovery...yet it was not shown other than him appearing to Quinn and telling him 'cliffnote' style...I just felt that so much could have actually been shown of this mysterious sprite world and Cades experience there.
It was mostly in Quinn's viewpoint and I would have loved more from Cade, and more magic and action as there was no real climax/action involved. Now what there was I loved, but it was as though it was done in cliffnotes almost.
Also in the first book the passion sizzled and even these scenes were cut short and skipped over at too many points. Now I get that this is required sometimes as otherwise there would be too much sex but in this there was too much cutting short these scenes and it was shame.
Ultimately I'm still glad I read it but can't help being rather disappointed...I was so excited to begin reading as the first book promised so much but in some areas it just didn't deliver.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 July 2014A wonderful finish to two great books. The mix of Paranormal and M/M is AWESOME!! Congratulations Susan.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 May 2014its been a while since i had a book that made me wanted to throw my kindle at the wall, but this one??? it was so frustrating, but in a GOOD WAY! i went into this blind, knowing nothing about the plot other than it follows from book one ( which i rated 4 stars) so i had no idea what was going to happen!
we rejoin Quinn and Cade after the attack on Quinn. Quinn is a Warlock, Grand Master of the Consortium; Quinn also has a Withinner, Taliesin, an old and powerful Warlock in his own right. Cade is human, mostly, but has Sprite tendencies.
the first half of the book takes up the plot to discover where the Witchfinder General, is, and killing him. they do this with the help of a book that has traces of his blood. And a witch that once held Quinn as a sex slaves for 3 days! this bit of the plot was slow and took time to develop, but once they had killed him, you are then left with half a book still to go!
we then (its almost 2 books in one!) get to the second plot line, and that is Quinn's fight for his Grand Master title, and for Cade. Cade comes a cropper, and is immersed into...well, im not saying, just that all is well in the end!!
i have to give this 4 fangs as well. we dont get so much of Taliesin in this book, and i missed him and his wittiness! i liked Valensia, and how both Quinn and Taliesin react to her, but also Daniel. (and i feel there could be another tale from those two alone!) Cade and Quinn's relationship grows stronger, and the sex becomes hotter after Cade's little hiccup, but again, its not all described in great detail, actually much is left to the imagination, but what IS described is well written and not too explicilt. the two plot lines would have worked better if they intertwined from the beginning, rather than almost one done then starting the next. i DID like Misty, who sets the whole thing in motion, and i would like there to have been more of her, especially with what she and Quinn, and Cade now have planned. the ending did seem to petter out a little, and that is what lets it down.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 May 2014This is the second book in the continuation of the Double Alchemy series and here we have the climax to the story. I was already hooked in this magyckal world of Warlocks, Withinners and Fae and the sparkle and fantasy continued to shine for me.
Quinn and Cade now living together are truly tested with the actions of a past lover of Quinn and a powerful old enemy. I won’t go too much in the storyline as the beauty is in the read itself. Needless to say it is a fabulous epitome of paranormal storytelling intermingled with some hot m/m romance and not to be missed!
I’ve really enjoyed this two book series and for somebody who is not a paranormal fan these days (although it is far superior a read to label it just as that) this just goes to show how amazing a read this series is. The story build up was driven further in this book to deliver an amazing ending. Book one was already a five star recommend from me and this final book continued the trend.
Again, as with all Susan Mac Nicol’s books she just get the characterisation spot on and gifted the reader with two hot, sexy and complex individuals along with engaging and demanding secondary characters (yes even those you want to shout ‘Boo! and Hiss!’ to).
A definite ‘one click’ I highly recommend and maybe beg for more? Five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome sequel!!
Susan Mac Nicol takes us on another fantastic journey into the magyckal & mysterious world of Witches, Warlocks, Withinners & Sprites in this sequel to Double Alchemy.
In this story, Quinn & his boyfriend Cade are now happily living together, but there's still danger lurking at every turn. Quinn is the Grand Master of the Warlocks & has been trying to find & destroy the Witchfinder General, who is on a mission to kill all Witches & Warlocks. So far, the Witchfinder General has stayed one step ahead of Quinn & has evaded him with some magyck of his own. The answer to finding & destroying him may lie in an ancient book called the Book of Shadows. It's a book of spells that used to belong to a 17th century Witch, but has ended up in the hands of a beautiful seductive Witch named Valensia, who Quinn used to date years ago. She didn't take their breakup too well at the time, when he told her he just wanted to date men exclusively, so he knows he may have a hard time convincing her to turn the book over to him, but will do whatever it takes.
Cade, in the meantime, has been embracing his inner Sprite. Having just found out he was Fey or a Water Sprite when he met Quinn, he wants to learn more about his ancestry & their healing powers. He gets the opportunity to do so when he is injured & the Sprites take him away to heal him, but also teach him how to use his own healing powers. But this puts him in danger as well, because now he's being tracked by a Chaser, a goblin-like creature who tracks Sprites for Collectors. A Collector is also a Sprite, but wants to steal the healing powers of other Sprites to make themselves more powerful. They will do whatever it takes to steal these powers, including killing the other Sprite.
There's a lot going on in this story. Enemies to be dealt with, alliances to be formed & an infatuated male co-worker of Cade's who won't take no for an answer & has Quinn green-eyed with jealousy. There's also a lot of hot sex, but some not on the page. It seems Cade & Quinn have a bit of a kinky side, but a lot of it's left up to our imagination! All in all, a well written book. If you are a fan of paranormal, then you will love this! If not, then you should give it a try. But you have to read Double Alchemy first, because this sequel is not a standalone. Highly recommend both books!

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a really good book. The plot twist and turns are great
This is a really good book. The plot twist and turns are great. Seeing Cade find out more about himself was great. The only thing I didn't like was how it was left open. I hope there will be another book to tie everything up.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an amazing story, Witches
Susan doesn't fail her fans!
What an amazing story, Witches, Warlocks, Withinners and Sprite. Oh and before I forget amazing MM love. Cade and Quinn go through love, trust, jealousy and elements that want to separate them, but through it all their love grows stronger. I loved this book (need to read Double Alchemy first). Thank You Susan MacNicol bringing us this world and these two amazing men.

4.0 out of 5 stars enjoyable
I really like these characters .. Cade and Quinn are good together.. The secondary characters are awesome as well .. I gave it 4 stars because I wanted more of Taliensen.. I was disappointed that he didn't have a bigger voice .. I hope she continues this series and in the next book has more dialogue and we learn more about what's going on with him in his time..
