Cassandra by Starlight (Starlight Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
TO CATCH A RISING STAR
Unconventional though she may be, Cassandra Wallace leads the life of an average Londoner, from blind dates to rush hour traffic. Then, along comes Bennett Saville. Charming, erudite, the up-and-coming actor is like the hero of a romantic movie. He sets Cassie afire like he has the stage and screen, and defies the tragedy that brought them together. From the tips of his Armani loafers to their scorching hot first kiss, he’s perfect. Only, he’s ten years younger and from the upper class, and those emerald eyes invite dangerous secrets. The world is full of hungry leading ladies, and every show must have its villain. Yet a true romance will always find its happy ending.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 November 2012I really enjoyed this well written book, depicting two people brought together by a series of events. Not just your typical romance, it has it all! It makes you relate to the characters as the storyline is so convincing and that things like this actually happen in real day life. Well researched! My only negative would be the ending......and that I cannot carry on reading what happens next with Cassie and Bennett! I'm looking forward to the next in the set!!! Will make sure I get my copy as as soon as it come out!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping mystery and satisfying romance
At the beginning of Cassandra by Starlight, fate throws Cassie and Bennett together in the most traumatic of ways. Cassie is gutsy, strong and determined. Bennett is talented, complex and drop-dead gorgeous (with great one-liners). From the start, both of them are believable, with their strengths and flaws making their blossoming relationship loving and fiery by turns, as they try to overcome the difficulties they face. The love scenes are beautifully written - hot and passionate but tasteful, with the ease and humour of a real couple.
The unexpected twists in the story kept me reading on to see what on earth would happen next. And some of the plot points were brilliant - like the reason for Cassie's difficulty with Bennett's mother, and the international twist to the stalker story. Some of the dramatic scenes are truly chilling, and might be a bit confronting for anyone who picked up the book expecting a more conventional romance. But I was riveted - Susan Mac Nicol has written the really gritty scenes in a way that's completely compelling, without being sensational (a fine art I think). The story is full of intriguing characters and sub-plots, without being difficult to follow - I could totally see it as a tv series.
Overall, I found Cassandra by Starlight a thoroughly enjoyable combination of gripping mystery and satisfying romance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cassandra by Starlight is Sexy and Thrilling
I found Cassandra by Starlight a delightful romp. Expecting a romance to help me relax and forget everyday worries I was not disappointed, and then I found myself caught up in the unexpected thriller like events the protagonists were thrown into by Susan Mac Nicol's skillful plot twists. What a brilliant surprise that was! Especially when I found myself really caring about the characters and wishing the story kept going. If I have any criticism it is that I would love to see more, yes I will say it: sex! the leads are both sexy as hell and I enjoy their chemistry. If their intimate scenes could go on a little longer it would not be amiss.
I look forward to the further adventures of Cassie & Bennett, Can't wait until the next installment. Consider me a fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars An enchanting tale
Cassandra by Starlight is an enchanting tale that manages to immediately hook you into the lives of its characters. Cassie and Bennett are on very different trajectories and, if not for a tragic accident, would never have crossed paths.
Bennett's brother fell or leaped to his death from a highway overpass and landed on Cassie's car, seriously injuring her. Bennett's guilt over the accident drives him to pursue her. But he soon finds that his feelings are genuine. Meanwhile, the compelling aspect of this novel is the intrigue around Bennett's brother's death and a wrenching secret that binds the characters even more tightly. A romance is able to evolve amidst self-doubt, tragedy, and recovery. That's what real life is about and Susan MacNicol beautifully captures it with her words.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Ride!
This was a great read and a fun ride and had me hooked from the beginning to the end. Several subplots within the story and some unexpected twists held my interest. LOTS of additional fun visualizing the main male character as a favorite actor of mine!

2.0 out of 5 stars I didn't like this book
I would not recommend this book to anyone. It was highly predictable and boring. It had a slight bit of excitement in the last 1/3 of the book but nothing to increase the desire to recommend this book.
